Strong finish to that first half from Reading as Yann Kermorgant again nearly found a way through the Bristol City defence.

But, it's the home side who lead courtesy of Tammy Abraham's goal.

Job done so far for Blackburn, but goalkeeper Jason Steele has saved well from Dwight Gayle when the Newcastle striker was put through by Gouffran.

The race to 20 goals continues for Gayle. Newcastle prodding and probing, Blackburn so far have been resolute.

Still little for Rafa Benitez to shout about as we approach half-time at Ewood Park.

    Bristol City 1-0 Reading

Tammy Abraham scoresImage source, Rex Features

Little in terms of a response so far from Reading to falling behind to that earlier Tammy Abraham goal.

Danny Williams is almost on the end of a searching cross into the area, but didn't anticipate the ball coming through to him in space at the back post so the chance goes begging.

  18. Postpublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Newcastle United

Still goalless at Ewood Park as we move into the last 10 minutes of the first half.

Blackburn keeping their shape while not seeing much of the ball, Newcastle pinging it around in midfield, but yet to carve the hosts open.

Meanwhile, after six straight defeats, could QPR be heading for back-to-back wins? Idrissa Sylla has given them the lead over Ipswich.
