  1. goal

GOAL (Abraham)published at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Bristol City 1-0 Reading

Finally some action to report from Ashton Gate and unexpectedly, it's a goal for the hosts.

A mistake from Ali Al-Habsi leads to a tap in for Tammy Abraham on 27 minutes, his 13th in the Championship this season.

Al Habsi couldn't hold on to Joe Bryan's initial effort from distance and the Chelsea loanee was there to pounce on the rebound.

Elsewhere, Lukas Jutkiewicz has given Birmingham the lead over Brentford.

  2. Postpublished at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Newcastle United

Close to goal number 20 of the season for Dwight Gayle as Newcastle force a smart save from Jason Steele in Blackburn's goal.

Gayle picks up a cross-field pass inside the area and cuts back to fire across goal. Steele gets his finger tips to the low effort to tip it behind.

The only thing of note to occur so far at Ashton Gate is Lee Johnson's wardrobe choice.

Absolutely nothing else to report on the pitch....

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Newcastle United

Finally a bit of action at Ewood Park.

Mo Diame picks up the ball on halfway and goes on one of his trademark surging runs for Newcastle. Lets fly with a right-foot effort from 35 yards, which seems destined for the top corner before crashing against the Blackburn crossbar.

    Much better.

We do have two goals in the Championship to mention, with Nelson Oliveira and Joe Ralls giving Norwich and Cardiff the lead against Derby and Aston Villa respectively.

  7. Goals anyone?published at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

Well, I thought we were in for our first goal of the afternoon in our featured games with that penalty at Craven Cottage, but the wait continues....

  8. Shakers shock?published at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    League One update

Bury are looking for their first win in 18 games and they have a shock lead against League One leaders Sheffield United thanks to a Jacob Mellis goal.

Elsewhere in League One, Devante Cole has given Fleetwood the lead against struggling Shrewsbury.

  9. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

David Stockdale saveImage source, Rex Features

A brilliant save from David Stockdale to deny Stefan Johansen and keep Brighton on level terms.

I suppose a keeper saving a penalty against his former club is the equivalent of an outfield player scoring against his old employers.

  10. PENALTY TO FULHAMpublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

Fulham have made a bright start and are awarded a penalty when Bruno handles in the box.

  11. Postpublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Newcastle United

    Quote Message

It's not been a fluent start so far for Newcastle, they look a bit laboured on the ball and need a bit of a spark to get going. That's been worrying me about this side lately, they don't seem to start quickly.

  12. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Leeds 0-0 Rotherham

The Millers nearly make a dream start at Elland Road.

Leeds goalkeeper Rob Green does well to save Anthony Forde's free-kick and former Leeds man Tom Adeyemi hits the post with the rebound.

  13. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Bristol City 0-0 Reading

Fairly quiet start to proceedings at Ashton Gate.

Reading looking comfortable in possession as has become the Jaap Stam way, but nothing of any significance in terms of chances in the opening 10 minutes.

  14. Postpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Newcastle United

    Seth Bennett
Final Score reporter at Ewood Park

Massive backing for Newcastle today at Ewood Park today, around 7,000 of them are making themselves heard. They have taken over both tiers of the Darwen End.

The Blackburn Rovers fans, although not outnumbered, are definitely being outshouted.

  15. goal

    Exeter City 1-0 Leyton Orient

Exeter City take the lead against the struggling O's.

  16. Game, set and match at Wimbledonpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    AFC WimbledonImage source, Rex Features

It's all over in the first EFL game of the day in League One where AFC Wimbledon and Millwall take a point each from a 2-2 draw.

Millwall led 2-1 at the break as Aiden O'Brien and Steve Morison scored either side of Lyle Taylor's equaliser.

But Tom Elliott's 51st-minute effort meant the spoils were shared.

Personally, you can't beat this pretty special overhead kick from Ipswich's Brett Pitman to win it for his side late-on against Bristol City on Friday.

Feel free to disagree and get your suggestions in throughout the afternoon and we'll share as many as possible...
