The home support celebrated that half in positive fashion. They've been disappointing domestically but have given a good account of themselves here.

Spurs are withstanding what Gent have thrown at them. The game would change on a goal and Spurs will diffuse that atmosphere if they can get the first.

Spurs will be relatively content. There are options there for Mauricio Pochettino to make changes in the second half.

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs were left reeling after the Sadio Mane show on Saturday, so how have they responded?

Not very well, to be honest.

They have rarely worked Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic, while striker Harry Kane has barely had a touch.

  3. 'Gent letting themselves down'published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker at Ghelamco Arena for BBC Radio London

The switching of play has been Gent's best form of attack. But that's when they've let themselves down. Not enough players are getting forward into the box to challenge and cause the Spurs defence a problem.

It's been a relatively straightforward half for Hugo Lloris.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Goalless at the interval.

Will Mauricio Pochettino be happy with his side's performance?

    No.

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

Belgian Mousa Dembele takes matters into his own hands and strides forward, but his low, drilled shot is straight into the hands of Lovre Kalinic.

    Two minutes to half time.

  7. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

Hugo Lloris, regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in English football, comes rushing off his line to slice the ball for a corner kick.

Luckily for the Frenchman, his team-mates spare his blushed by clearing the resulting set-piece.

Lyon lead at AZ thanks to Lucas Tousart

A smattering of goals across Europe so far.

Genk, not to be confused with Gent, are ahead in Romania with Timoty Castagne putting them ahead against Astra Giurgiu, while Shakhtar and Lyon also lead on the road.

Tiemoko Konate of Sparta Prague has already been sent off, booked twice inside 32 minutes. Unforgivable.

In the biggest profile game under way, it's goalless between Monchengladbach and Fiorentina.

  9. 'Spurs starting to boss it'published at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker at Ghelamco Arena for BBC Radio London

When Gent are starting to play out the Spurs defenders are ready for the challenge.

Gent were really fast out of the blocks and it looks like they've burnt their energy out.

It's more like it from Tottenham. They're starting to boss this game.

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

Gent are very organised at the back with two narrow banks of four players.

Spurs need to get the ball out to the flanks, but Ben Davies is not in the league of Danny Rose down that left side.

David Bushell: Tottenham's plan here should be to give it to Harry Winks and let him dictate play. Been the only spark so far.

Tomst: Walker looks lost without Rose to share the workload at LB.

Someone on Twitter called Joshua has just described me as the "chief Spurs hater".

    Harsh.

Is it my fault your side cannot string two passes together?

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

Dele Alli has seen plenty of the ball in promising positions, this time inside the area around eight yards out, but his shot on the swivel is blocked by Samuel Gigot.

  15. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Gent 0-0 Tottenham

You get the feeling Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic does not fill his defenders with any confidence.

He climbs over his own man Stefan Mitrovic to try and claim a cross, but ends up dropping it as his team-mate has to scramble to get it clear.

Moussa Sissoko then nods the ball into the path of Dele Alli, but the Spurs midfielder's strike is way off target.

    Nice football from Gent.

The ball is stroked to the right for Thomas Foket, who has acres of land in front of him

Foket clips a cross towards Brecht Dejaegere who takes it on the volley, but he cannot get over it and the ball ends up in the stands.

Sloppy from Kyle Walker, as he gives the ball away on the halfway line to Kenneth Saief.

The midfielder breaks forward inside the Spurs area, but his left-footed shot is blocked well by Toby Alderweireld.

A stinger on his thigh. He'll be rubbing that better when the camera pans away from him.

I am reading the Ghelamco Arena houses a Michelin star restaurant, but this match has been like a cold slice of leftover pizza from the previous night.

    Not very appetising.
