Andy White: A very poor challenge but surely that was Bayern players who changed it from a yellow to a red?

Yes, either the reaction of the Bayern players or the assistant has made the referee change his mind there.

The Leipzig players are losing their heads here.

Naby Keita goes in late on the bleach, blond haired Mats Hummels, who is winded by the challenge.

He should go into the book there...for the choice of hairstyle.

  3. RED CARD - Emil Forsbergpublished at 30 mins

    Bad to worse to terrible.

A deserved red for Leipzig midfeilder Emil Forsberg.

The Swede slides and stamps on the back of Philipp Lahm's left leg after the Bayern Munich man had broken clear to the halfway line.

The Bayern Munich players pile in and are incensed by that challenge, it really was horrible and Lahm is not interested in Forsberg's apology.

The ref had originally taken a yellow card out, but a word with his assistant and he brandished a red.

    Xabi Alonso

    All going wrong for Leipzig.

Deep in their own half, defender Willi Orban plays a terrible ball into the feet of Naby Keita and is dispossessed by Arturo Vidal.

You cannot give Bayern an invitation like that, as the Bundesliga champions break via Robert Lewandowski, onto Thiago, who plays in Xabi Alonso.

The former Liverpool man takes a deep breath, composes himself and drills a low finish into the bottom corner.

A big, big ask for Leipzig to turn this game around now.

COLIN BUNDRED: If there is one thing I cannot stand about European football it's those irritating drums. Ruins the atmosphere.

I actually like it, better than the atmosphere-less stadia we find at places in England.

    The champions are in front.

Bayern Munich create their first real chance of the match and take the lead.

Arjen Robben and skipper Philipp Lahm exchanges passes down the right with the former Germany international playing the ball into the box for Robert Lewandowski, who hits the post with a flicked shot.

The ball falls into the middle of the box for midfielder Thiago to knock in.

The Allianz Arena erupts and it is all too easy for the home side.

The Leipzig goalkeeper gets away with one.

Fresh from his stunning winner against Darmstadt, Douglas Costa shows neat footwork to escape Bernardo before cutting the ball back from the byeline, a ball which Peter Gulacsi spills into the box.

Luckily for the keeper, team-mate Marcel Halstenberg was at hand to hack the ball to safety.

Bayern were carved open rather easily there, positive signs for the visitors.

On the pitch though, it's hard to dislike Leipzig's style of play, with ambitious young players such as 20 year-old Timo Werner, who has scored nine goals in 15 league games this season.

Their 13-match unbeaten run at the start of the season suggests they could push Bayern all the way this season.
