Millwall have made up for last year's Wembley heartache with a narrow win over Bradford City.

The Lions won it with a close range finish from Steve Morison in the 85th minute.

Bradford, who had their chances, now face a fifth successive season in the third tier.

Millwall captain Tony Craig told Sky Sports: "It was a dream come true for me to lift the trophy.

"It's a big relief to win today after the heartache of last year.

"It was such a cagey game and thankfully Steve was in the right place at the right time."

Bradford boss Stuart McCall told Sky Sports: "The game went how we thought it would, I just feel numb at the moment.

"We knew it would be tight and that one goal might do it. It's sore to take but congratulations to Millwall.

"Jordan Archer made a superb save and that is the thin line between failure and success.

"I'm very disappointed in the stewarding allowing their fans to get over the halfwayline. I had fans goading me and my players and I was close to clocking one or two of them I can tell you. They need to look at that.

"Our support were outstanding and I feel for them."

Millwall defender Byron Webster told Sky Sports: "I can't put into words what this means.

"Jordan Archer's save in the first half was different gravy.

Archer on his save from Bradford forward Billy Clarke: "I had to come out and do my job and thankfully I got my fingertips on it.

"Going up this way is the best way to do it."

Millwall boss Neil Harris told Sky Sports: "If I need a hero, I've always got Steve Morison.

"The strikers have been the difference for us over the play-offs.

"Bradford were better than us in the first half but I took a step back and put trust in my players.

"The fans came on in good spirit. We didn't want them to come on but they came on in good spirit."

• Millwall have now been promoted from the third tier to the second tier on eight separate occasions, a joint record along with Bristol City.
• Bradford have only lost two of their last 10 games against Millwall but both of those defeats have come in play-off matches, also losing 3-1 in last season’s semi-final.
• Steve Morison was involved in all four of Millwall’s play-off goals this season (three goals, one assist).
• The Lions won just their second game at Wembley in their entire history (also 1-0 v Swindon in May 2010).
• This is the first time Bradford have lost a play-off final, having won their previous two in 1996 and 2013.

Millwall deserved to win the game because they finished it stronger.

Bradford didn't make the most of their chances - it's as simple as that.

Contrast Bradford's dejection to the pure joy of Millwall's players as they climb the Wembley steps.

After heartbreak at Wembley a year ago, Millwall are back in the Championship.

The Lions were a completely different side after the break, and Neil Harris' team celebrate a magnificent achievement.

Bradford look understandably devastated at the final whistle. The Bantams could have been home and dry with a few better final passes in the first half, but instead another season in League One awaits.
