Arsene Wenger was right when he said the season has been a tough one for the players and fans but they turned up today.

They had one mindset, to walk off as winners and that was clear to see. They played the better football and wanted it more, the Chelsea players were hanging their heads but they had an unbelievable season. On the day, not enough players turned up, they did not deserve to win.

Defender Rob Holding has a fantastic semi-final too and he was under the spotlight, as was Per Mertesacker. Both players put on a huge display. What a performance Mesut Ozil put in too. Man for man, they were much better than Chelsea.

I cannot believe how ordinary Arsenal made Chelsea look. The Premier League champions could not handle Arsenal's footballing ability in the middle of the pitch. They could not get any rhythm or get on the ball. It was their best display of the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We had an outstanding performance from the first minute onwards. This team has suffered. They've united and responded. I said last week this team will be in the championship with one or two good buys. They showed strength and unity and played spectacular football today.

"I'm proud to have won seven of these cups. I'm proud having done this - winning the championship without losing and winning seven FA Cups.

On his future: "We have a board meeting on Tuesday. And on Wednesday or Thursday it will be clearer."

Prince William is now handing out the winners' medals to the knackered-looking Arsenal players.

Captain Per Mertesacker, who had a brilliant game in his first start this season, is lagging behind a bit but he's there just in time to help regular captain Laurent Koscielny lift the trophy.

Cue ticker-tape parade and a rendition of 'Sweet Caroline'.

Was that for me? Ah, shucks.

You can't read him. You can't read what Arsene Wenger's going to do.

What he's done is put a lot of faith in his team. In certain games, they have shown what they are capable of, and today was one of those days.

Winning manager Arsene Wenger tells Dan Walker on BBC One his side were "outstanding" and they've "suffered, united and responded".

Wenger is then asked about his future. There's a board meeting on Tuesday, apparently, and a decision will be made on Wednesday/Thursday.

Arsenal's Danny Welbeck: "It was a great team performance.

"We stuck in there when it looks like things were against us. You always worry when you are a goal down and it was a game full of surprises.

"The manager is his own man and he makes his own decision and the board will make the right decision so I can't comment on that."
