  1. 'Wenger doesn't sound like a man about to go'published at 12:42 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

If Wenger were to go now, it doesn't really give us a lot of time to get the next manager in and I feel that he should be a part of that process.

He seems very defiant though. He doesn't sound like a man who is about to go. He is calling out the board, actually, and he is asking them to not go with the popular decision - because the fans are against him.

I cannot believe that after all he has achieved over the last 12 years that the fans are against him. It may not be popular, but he is saying "make the right decision for this football club".

  2. The story of the first round - The whistle blowerpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    FA Cup 2016-17

The focal point of the first round proper is usually about the lowest-ranked team to make it there.

This season it was Westfields - who play in the ninth tier of English football.

But actually, the biggest talking point was at The Enclosed Ground in Sussex - home of Whitehawk.

The National League South side thought they had grabbed a winner deep into injury time in their game against Stourbridge, but the goal was ruled out as the referee had blown for full-time just as Javier Favarel hit a sweet volley into the back of the net.

They protested, but the goal didn't stand. And then they went on to lose the replay.

  3. The best of the 2000spublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Chelsea are into their twelfth final in total having won seven times previously.

Since 1999 both the Blues and Arsenal have won the competition five times, but Chelsea have the slightly better FA Cup record by virtue of one more quarter-final appearance.

Whoever wins this year’s final can rightly make the claim to be regarded as the best FA Cup team of the 2000s.

  6. Dominant Arsenalpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Arsenal are the first club ever to appear in the FA Cup final a total of 20 times.

A victory for the Gunners today would set a new competition record of 13 FA Cup wins, almost 10% of all the times the trophy has been lifted.

  7. 'A disgrace'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsene Wenger speaking to Jonathan Pearce on Football Focus: "I don't mind criticism because we are in a public job. The lack of respect from some has been a disgrace and I will never accept that.

"I believe there is a difference between being criticised and being treated in a way that human beings don't deserve to be treated and I will never forget that".

  8. Early team newspublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Arsenal have got all sorts of problems at the back. Gabriel is out injured after suffering knee-ligament damage in the final league game of the season against Everton. Fellow defender Laurent Koscielny is also out after being sent off in the same game.

A third Gunners centre-back, Shkodran Mustafi, is a doubt after suffering with symptoms of concussion.

Unlike their opponents, Chelsea are at full-fitness. Antonio Conte must decide whether to pick right winger Willian – the only Blues player to have started every FA Cup game this season – or instead use Pedro, who has usually been preferred in league games.

Conte may also decide to pick ex-Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas in central midfield ahead of Nemanja Matic.

The pitch looks massive here at Wembley. There could be some fear in the Arsenal defenders today with Eden Hazard running at them.

2002. Cardiff. The last time Arsenal and Chelsea met in an FA Cup final.

Back then, goals from Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg handed Arsenal a 2-0 victory and, with it, the FA Cup.
