    Villarreal 1-0 Barcelona

More controversy. Barcelona substitute Denis Suarez, trying to sidestep fallen bodies in the penalty area, is screaming for a penalty as a tumbling Bruno's hand once again makes contact with the ball. The referee, to howls of Barca protest, sees a foul somewhere amid the chaos, and gives a free-kick the other way. Mayhem. Ten and a bit minutes left. Hold on to your hats.

    Juventus 3-0 Bologna

Just what Bologna's tiring defenders want to see. Juventus introduce speedster Juan Cuadrado and the former Chelsea man is quickly in the thick of things. He bursts down the right, then looks up to see Sami Khedira in space. The Germany international bamboozles his marker with a delicate touch, only to fire wildly over the bar.

    Villarreal 1-0 Barcelona

All happening now. Roberto Soriano drives at goal, and the ball strikes Javier Mascherano on the hand. Again, a penalty appeal - and a strong one - but again, no penalty.

Then it's Luis Suarez, off down the other end, in from the right - it's a stinging shot, and Sergio Asenjo flings himself to his right to palm the ball away.

Messi decides the best way to seek justice is to score a goal. He bends a beauty around the keeper, who is motionless. But it hits the inside of the post!

    Villarreal 1-0 Barcelona

Oh dear me. It should be a Barcelona penalty. Neymar down the left, cuts the ball back low towards the edge of the penalty area. Bruno, falling to the floor, misses his kick, and it's a chance for Lionel Messi. Handball! Bruno sticks out an arm and deflects the shot over. But the referee doesn't see it, and gives only a corner. Messi is rightly fuming.

    Juventus 3-0 Bologna

All gone a bit testimonial now. Bologna are knocking the ball around close to the halfway line, Juventus content to let them do it.

Then Juve decide enough is enough. They spring forward quickly through Miralem Pjanic, whose clipped cross from the right byeline is cut out by a yellow shirt before the ball reaches intended target Gonzalo Higuain.

Luis Suarez, at full pace down the right, has the back of his shirt tugged by Jaume Costa, who is never going to catch the striker by legal means in a million years. The full-back takes the booking, which rules him out of Villarreal's next game.

Lionel Messi whips over the free-kick from the right. Javier Mascherano, who hasn't scored for a million years, heads well wide.

Another Barca change; Arda Turan, an attacking player, is on for full-back Lucas Digne. The visitors are going for it.

    Villarreal 1-0 Barcelona

Barcelona turn the screw. Lionel Messi crosses from the right; Mario heads out. Alexandre Pato tries to break for Villarreal; Javier Mascherano is back to whip the ball away from him. Then it's Barca again; this time Neymar down the left. The cross is blocked. This game could still go either way.

A change for Barcelona; Denis Suarez - a former Villarreal player - is on for Andre Gomes.

    Villarreal 1-0 Barcelona

A penalty shout for Barcelona there. Neymar tumbles to the floor under a Villarreal challenge - looks like Mateo Musacchio is the defender. Referee has a think, and thinks: "No. That is not a penalty. Play on." It's probably the right decision; Neymar's fall was a little too theatrical.

Start up the Bologna bus - it is game over.

Juventus stick their foot down on the gas, Stephan Lichtsteiner accelerating down the right flank to latch onto Miralem Pjanic's pass.

The Swiss right-back sweeps in a dreamy cross, straight on to Gonzalo Higuain's forehead... you know the rest.

You remember the picture of Lionel Messi relaxing at home with his massive dog - the one I posted before kick-off? I think Luis Enrique might be advised to throw the dog on for the last half-an-hour here, just to rough up the home defence a bit.

The thought of that brings to mind the Half Man Half Biscuit classic: Even Men With Steel Hearts Love To See A Dog On The Pitch. Worth a search online when you get a moment. After this text commentary has finished, obviously.

    Juventus 2-0 Bologna

All pretty comfortable for Serie A leaders Juventus since the restart. Plenty of possession for the home side, Bologna toiling a little.

If Juve don't win this and go four points clear then I'll eat my hat.

Nicola Sansone, having caught Barcelona cold once with his pace, goes again. Sergi Robero gets in the block.

Then it's the visitors on the attack; Neymar, Suarez and Messi try to work an opening between them, but Villarreal have enough men back there to block the shot when the Brazilian crosses towards the Argentine. It's the closest you'll see to a rugby scrum in La Liga, but it gets the job done. The visitors are going to have to work very hard for a goal here.

Barcelona respond, as we knew they would. Lionel Messi feeds Neymar, who cuts in from the left and sees the goal. The Brazil forward hasn't really got going for Barca this season, though - not by his high standards, anyway. The shot is tame, along the floor, and easily gathered by Sergio Asenjo. Neymar looks pained.

    Nicola Sansone

Villarreal on the back foot? Not a bit of it. Barcelona give the ball away, Roberto Soriano picks it up, feeds Alexandre Pato, and the home side are away. The former Chelsea man delivers the perfect pass to Nicola Sansone, who seemed to be struggling with injury before half-time. But he's sharp enough here, slotting a shot across the keeper and in off the far post. Could this be Villarreal's first win over Barcelona since 2008?

    Villarreal 0-0 Barcelona

The second half begins with an absolute traffic jam on the edge of the Villarreal penalty area; Barcelona pass the ball around patiently, the home side are back in numbers to block the way. It needs a lollipop man/woman to sort things out, really. Or perhaps the installation of a mini-roundabout. In the end, the attack comes to nothing, and Sergio Asenjo has his hands on the ball.
