High and wide from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That's United's fourth attempt in the opening 16 minutes. Watford are working flat out to keep the hosts at bay.

    Man Utd 0-0 Watford

United are knocking on the door. Anthony Martial wins the game's first corner with a shot from outside the area which cannons off Sebastian Prodl and flies behind.

Jose Mourinho is busy scribbling something down in his notebook. He will pleased with what he has seen from his side so far. The only thing United are missing is a goal.

This is one way traffic. United carve out another opening as Zlatan Ibrahimovic tees-up in-form Henrikh Mkhitaryan who tests Gomes from 20-yards.

Incidentally, there was applause around Old Trafford at 15:04 - the time of the Munich Air Disaster 59 years ago. Families of those who died in the disaster are special guests of the club at this match.

    Man Utd 0-0 Watford

United have settled quickly and it already looks as though it is going to be a long afternoon for Watford. Heurelho Gomes is down to gather Daley Blind's low cross into the area.

    Man Utd 0-0 Watford

Tom Cleverley already looks up for this. He's one of two Watford players returning to their former club. Craig Cathcart is the other. Cathcart could have his work cut out in the Hornets defence.

First chance of the match falls for Zlatan Ibrahimovic but he fails to make a proper connection with Antonio Valencia's cross and a decent chance is gone.

Here is a stat to send shivers down the spines of all Watford fans: Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored six goals in 10 games against teams managed by Walter Mazzarri.

"I want to win the Premier League, I don't give up until it's done," said Ibrahimovic after stepping off the team coach ahead of the game.

"Every season I do I am not satisfied, I always want more."

Asked about United's improved form since the 3-1 defeat at Watford in September, Ibrahimovic added: "The team knows more about one another now. Everything was new then - the coach, the staff, the players. We know each other more."

United's players are wearing black armbands to mark the 59th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster when 23 people were killed. Among the dead were eight United players. This is the closest home fixture to 6 February - the date of the disaster. Fans gathered outside Old Trafford before the game for a memorial ceremony.

I was at Vicarage Road back in September to see Watford's first-ever Premier League points against Manchester United, but Jose Mourinho's team have a much more solid and settled look about them now.

United are currently on their longest unbeaten league run since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but they know it is all about winning in the chase for a top-four finish.

The Old Trafford draws against Stoke, Burnley, West Ham and Hull are still frustrating memories. Had those been victories, United would have been second, six points off Chelsea

Arsenal's 2-0 win over Hull in the lunchtime kick-off means United cannot move into fourth spot. However, United will put pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City if they make it nine wins in 16 Premier League games.

After this, United are in Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup final action before their next league match. Three points today will be the perfect send off for Jose Mourinho's side.

Having occupied sixth spot for the last three months, United can sign off from Premier League action for the next three weeks by climbing above Liverpool into fifth spot - and within a point of Manchester City if they beat Watford.
