Tim Salmon: Leicester should be losing this game to concentrate and allow players to rest for Premier League. Next season's on a tightrope

Limaro Fipana: What we're seeing so far is that Derby reserves are better than Leicesters.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

It has just been pointed out to me that Steve McClaren has jogged down the steps from director's box to the touchline. Almost bang on my prediction of 23 minutes. Dang.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

Derby get themselves into a muddle at the back - and it almost proves costly. Richard Keogh is caught in possession as they try to play out, Leicester pinch the ball and Ahmed Musa is bundled over by Jason Shackell.

"Shoulder!" barks out ref Mike Jones when some of the home shout for a penalty.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

Ikechi Anya has looked Derby's biggest threat so far. The Scotland international brings out his best Cristiano Ronaldo impression, whipping into a flurry of stepovers to bamboozle Daniel Amartey. But his cross is thumped out by Ben Chilwell's head.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

The 5,000-odd Derby fans are making a racket in their corner of the King Power Stadium. Leicester fans are pretty subdued.

Quite open, a decent tempo, easy on the eye. No shots on target yet though.

Couple of uncertain moments from Leicester's centre-halves. Both Marcin Wasilewski and Yohan Benalouane seem quite far apart at times.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

Derby still on the front foot, launching a sustained attack that Anthony Joshua would be quite happy with. Leicester can't clear their lines, Derby playing the ball out to the right where Abdoul Camara is lurking. He looks up, sees some support, but tries to bend into the far corner. The ball flashes wide of the post, which Rams skipper Richard Keogh kicks in frustration.

Derby have taken plenty of encouragement from that attack...

Ikechi Anya has got some legs. But, unfortunately for the Derby winger, none of his team-mates can catch him. Leicester shirts get back in numbers to stop Derby striker Nick Blackman meeting Anya's cross at the back stick.

Marc Albrighton's first effort from the set-piece can only find a Derby head - but he's got another chance. However that comes to nothing and Derby look to play Leicester at the own game. Counter...

  14. Shearer on Leicester's Ahmed Musapublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2017

    Leicester v Derby (19:45 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on BBC One

Musa has been playing a lot of the time out wide. He has his chance down the middle tonight. He got two goals in the last round against Everton - first was a little scrappy, but the second was a very good goal. If this lot put in a good display then they can knock on the manager's door and say 'hey, give me a chance'.

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

Confident start from Derby. They're pinging the ball around neatly in the middle of the park, making a bit of progress down the left flank. There's a half-heartened penalty appeal for a handball when the ball is swung into the box. Nah.

    Graeme Le Saux
Former Chelsea left-back on BBC One

The number of changes both teams have made is incredible, particularly Leicester when they need to find a bit of form. I watched them against Manchester United on Sunday and they played like they had 11 individuals out there. You have just got to hope from their perspective that the players out there tonight grab their chance and impress their manager.

It's 1-1. In the yellow card action. Leicester midfielder Nampalys Mendy goes into the book for scything through the back of Derby's Julien de Sart. No complaints.

I think it's fair to say most right-minded Leicester fans are still backing Claudio Ranieri. Those inside the King Power certainly are.

"Ranieri! Woah woah wooooaah!" is given its first airing of the evening.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 6 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Derby

Leicester flyer Demarai Gray is whacked by Derby right-back Cyrus Christie. An agricultural challenge, I think that is called. Christie goes into the book. He's walking an 80-minute plus tightrope.
