Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is asked how damaging this week has been for the season.

"We will see" replied the German. "We can’t say nothing happened because the opposite is the truth. But it’s not allowed that we suffered like this. We cost ourselves the game today but we should not forget that they played really well. It was a good plan but we should have played better. It’s a fair result.

"I am angry but that is not enough. We have to ‘collect the bones’, and to recover and strike back 100%.

"It doesn’t make it easier for Chelsea, that game is not decided already. It’s up to us and if we play better we have a chance. If we don’t, we don’t have a chance but it is too early to talk about the next game. We have to talk about this game, but with the team not with in public with you guys."

  3. 'I am responsible'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-2 Wolves

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport:

"We were very bad. We started badly and it didn't really get better. Everyone saw it. There are not a lot of good things to say about this game. It's difficult to explain.

"The start immediately gave them confidence, we obviously weren't ready. We had the ball, gave it away, then a foul, a free-kick, the goal happened and then we tried but not well enough.

"In the second half it was better, but really it was not possible to be worse. I’ve not got a lot more to say.

"I am responsible for the line-up. I am not allowed to blame a single player. Of course you see them and you learn a lot about them in situations like this too, but I am responsible."

  4. 'Liverpool lacked know-how'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

This was always a tricky tie for Liverpool as soon as Klopp decides to field a team of youngsters in a match that really matters - if Klopp didn't know the importance of the FA Cup fourth round before today, he does know.

They lacked know-how today, and by the time the cavalry arrived in the second-half, it was too late.

Wolves are a real cup threat now.

  5. 'We'll enjoy the ride'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-2 Wolves

Wolves manager Paul Lambert told BT Sport: "I think from the off we started well and counter attacked. We pressed when we had to press and sat back when we had to be compact. The game plan was brilliant.

"[The last few minutes] it was horrible. I'm happy to admit that. The lads were running on empty. I've been here a few times before and this is the best result for me.

"The support was incredible. It's like that at home as well. The lads have got the bond witb the fans and it's a special bond.

"We'll enjoy the ride. We might get dismantled in the next game but the last two games have been unbelievable."

Wolves goalscorer Richard Stearman told BT Sport: "We knew we had to start well. We needed to be on the front foot.

If a player knocks on your door and says he's ill, then fine. But if they don't knock on your door then you play them.

I don't understand why Jurgen Klopp had to make nine changes in two games. They've got no excuse.

  12. 'Liverpool have a problem'published at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-2 Wolves

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Radio 5 live

Liverpool get up to the edge of the 18-yard box and they quite quickly and regularly run out of ideas. That is why they are so short of confidence.

They have a problem because they’ve had an extremely poor January.

When you walk away from this game and reflect over-night, the idea at the start of the season was to finish in the Champions League positions in the top four. Form does turn around and I do still really think they have a chance of getting into the top four and if they have that’s what they craved at the start of the season.

It’s easy to make a knee-jerk reaction but today you’ve got to give credit to Wolves for a fantastic performance.

Bev: Shame on Klopp for playing such an under strength team. Going out of both cup competitions with a whimper.

Rashida: You can't call Liverpool losing this a cup upset. They've been outplayed and outshined by a resilient Wolves side who turned up!

Jake Tupman: Possibly the worst performance I've ever seen from any Liverpool team ever.

  16. Postpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-2 Wolves

Wolves have got past the fourth round for the first time since they beat Watford 4-1 in 2007-08.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's January blues continue. They've only won once since the turn of the year in all competitions and have lost three on the bounce at Anfield.

  17. 'Wolves deserved their win'published at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-2 Wolves

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Radio 5 live

The reason Wolves have won this game is because of an absolutely perfect first 45 minutes. They scored two beautifully worked goals.

In the second half Liverpool huffed and puffed but when you think about it, Wolves thoroughly deserved their win, an outstanding performance.

Wolves have a corner and are taking an age to get the ball back in play.

They'll try and play keep-ball for the next 30 seconds, I imagine.

There's another few shouts for a Liverpool penalty as Lucas goes down in the box but Harry Burgoyne has the ball and once again Craig Pawson says no.

Liverpool earn a free-kick on the edge of the area after Alberto Moreno is brought down.

Coutinho takes it from just outside the area...but it hits the wall.

We're into four minutes of added time.
