    Sutton 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal are pinging it around now - I'm sticking by the shout that this artificial pitch suits them better than a winter-beaten grass one. Gunners' corner, eventually cleared. Sutton break, Roarie Deacon again, Jeff Reine-Adelaide trips him and goes in the book.

Lucas Perez's goal has really taken the sting out of the atmosphere at Gander Green Lane.

Sutton manager Paul Doswell gathered his team around him during a break in play just to lift their spirits and remind them that it is still early days. The problem for the National League side is they will now have to take more risks, leaving them open to Arsenal's pace.

    Sutton 0-1 Arsenal

To be fair to Arsenal, they haven't shirked anything - yet. It's probably because Mesut Ozil isn't playing. Theo Walcott, now aged 15, has mixed it up front, while Lucas Perez has been happy to put a foot in.

Luke And thats one of the first lessons in football.. Get the ball into a dangerous area and that can happen!

Meer Shah Just when I thought Sutton were getting the better of the Gunners, Arsenal run ahead. Game on.

Jay I'm really impressed by Sutton United- they are playing with confidence and with zero fear. Unlucky to be behind.

Get up! No one can get a header on a Roarie Deacon free-kick that just has a bit too much pudding on it. You fancy Sutton from a set-piece, mind.

Sam Rio Nnaji Perez looks like he knows a thing or two about scoring goals. Why Wenger rarely plays him I have absolutely no clue

Catherine That's pretty cheeky. Good goal though. 0-1. C'mon Sutton!

Paul Collins A better goalie wouldn't have let that Arsenal goal in. The shot/cross wasn't even that powerful

Some of these Sutton players don't need a ball. First it was Nicky Bailey, now Jamie Collins has gone right through Alex Iwobi. Proper football this. Where's Norman Hunter when you need him? Iwobi has been tattooed to remember his trip to Sutton.

If the Sutton spectators were deflated by the goal, they have found their voices once more. A hopeful long ball has Arsenal defender Rob Holding faffing around, under pressure from two gold shirts. Eventually he turns away from danger, but that's the sort of dilly-dallying that gets you in trouble.

Sutton have to be a bit careful now and make sure they don't leave themselves too exposed. They drop off a little bit as well, that was the real disappointment with that goal that they dropped off so far.

Could have been two. Nacho Monreal finds himself free on the edge of the six-yard box. A poor touch and Ross Worner is on to him to make the block, then Theo Walcott over the bar from distance. Sutton slightly ragged. That goal was a bad one for the neutral.

Arsenal break quickly. Sutton threw bodies forward and didn't get back. Excellent run by Theo Walcott, he tries to get a little touch and poor Ross Worner tries to cover Walcott and nothing he can do about that.

That's the big difference when you get a quality ball in the box. You need to ask questions of the defenders and the goalkeeper. The delivery was so good and it gave nobody a chance in the end.

It's the start Arsenal really wanted. They didn't start particularly well but they're a goal up and it's all about getting the job done tonight.

    Lucas Perez

Heartbreak for Sutton. Against the run of play and with a huge element of fortune, Arsenal lead. Lucas Perez on the right, jinking, curling the ball in along the ground. Theo Walcott tries to get a touch, doesn't, but it's enough to distract Ross Worner and the ball ends up in the far corner. You can feel the air being sucked from the Sutton sails, while Arsene Wenger punches the air.

Daniel Woodley This has been a great start for Sutton who look comfortable against their more illustrious opponents. Long way to go!

James Lowrey Sutton are certainly getting some joy down the Arsenal left. Monreal does not seem to be up for this so far whatsoever.

Peter Gilbert You're a quarter of the way through this match, Sutton. You can doooo it!

Get that up yer. Granit Xhaka goes in the book for a pull on Craig Eastmond. That's an early one for a player like Xhaka. More cards than Clintons.

Not much in this so far. Sutton are dogged as they try to build attacks of their own while Arsenal's threat has come from the extra zip they possess going forward, although The Gunners have had some problems with this heavily-watered artificial surface.#

Sutton United will be very happy with this opening phase.

It is certainly not a backs-to-the-wall job for Sutton. They have three players [left graphic] up in the Arsenal half, trying to catch the visitors out with an early goal.

Roarie Deacon has been everywhere, class apart from his final ball. Speedy, tricky, not the tallest. One stepover, two, then a cross into the stand. Still, he's lively.

Alan Pardew is here, just like he was at the Fulham-Spurs game yesterday. I think Mrs Pardew has got fed up of having him around the house. "Why don't you go to watch some football, Alan?"

Arsenal could go all the way in this year's FA Cup but tonight is their biggest challenge. The winner of this is at home and that's a huge advantage. Whoever wins tonight will fancy their chances.
