  2. 'It would have been wrong to change it'published at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Kilmarnock v Aberdeen (13:00)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes on BBC Radio Scotland: "I've went with the same team but had a lot to consider.

"There was a decision about a player's fitness until late last night, but he is good to go.

"The performance was so good the other night, it would have been wrong to change it.

"Shinnie went out the team through suspension, but I have no doubt Graeme will have a part to play.

"We are doing well, but the slap in the face is always around the corner and we have to make sure we are up for it today.

"I don't think Kilmarnock will change too much and we anticipated the team Lee is playing today.

"I think we will miss Lee Clark from Scottish football."

  3. Shinnie only makes Dons benchpublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Kilmarnock v Aberdeen (13:00)

Aberdeen remain unchanged for the trip to Rugby Park and little wonder, given their last outing was a 7-2 drubbing of Motherwell at Pittodrie. Graeme Shinnie returns to the squad following a suspension, but he cannot oust on-loan Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie and has to settle for a spot on the bench.

Kilmarnock captain Steven Smith missed last week's draw at Dundee with a groin strain, but he returns to the starting line-up, with Iain Wilson dropping to the bench. Apart from that, they are same again from last week's draw at Dundee.

For Rangers, of course, it will be their second game with caretaker manager Graeme Murty in charge following the departure of Mark Warburton.

The Ibrox club are still mulling over their next move but have announced that they are seeking a director of football - Gordon Smith was their last one in 2012 - as well as someone to look after the first team.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers entered the debate about the usefulness of such a role by saying yesterday that he thought that it was not appropriate for Scottish clubs, despite Hearts appearing to have made the system work for the last couple of years.

Will a director of football role work for Rangers? Are Scottish clubs too small for such a position?

  5. Under new managementpublished at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

Kilmarnock and Rangers both go into today's games under caretaker control.

Graeme Murty has already had one game in charge at Ibrox - the Scottish Cup win over Greenock Morton - since Mark Warburton's exit.

Now, former Rangers player Lee McCulloch has been thrust into the limelight at Rugby Park after the surprise departure of Lee Clark to Bury last week.

  6. Focus on second placepublished at 12:00

With Celtic having continued their relentless progress towards retaining the Scottish title yesterday, attention turns to the battle for second place.

Fourth-placed Hearts slipped up after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and today Aberdeen, who are away to Kilmarnock, and Rangers, who travel to Dundee, have the chance to turn it even more into a two-horse race for the runners-up spot.

Meanwhile, the last game of the day pits St Mirren against Welsh visitors The New Saints, who are aiming to mark their debut in the Irn Bru Cup by becoming the first non-Scottish side to reach the final of what was the Challenge Cup.
