Josh Taylor: Delighted to come home after a hard nights sparring & hear that @HibsOfficial, external got a great win over the Jambos tonight in the Scottish Cup

Michael Stewart: Well played to Hibs & Neil Lennon for a thoroughly deserved victory. Their season is building up well now. I can't believe there has been an overestimation of where Hearts are, what was the basis for that? & regardless, you always have to fight....

David Inch: Ian Cathro needs to learn performances speak louder than words. To be honest his rhetoric is starting to bore me!

Peter McCarter: To suggest it's too early to sack Cathro is ridiculous! How long do we leave it? Till we back in Championship? Going that way...

Ecky: "Overestimated where we are." Eh? That would only make sense if Hearts had been on a strong run previously. They haven't.

  4. Hearts 'failed to fight' - Ian Cathropublished at 22:05

    Hibernian 3-1 Hearts

"We failed to fight hard enough: for the shirt, for the club, for the supporters, for everything that this game [edinburgh derby] means to people.

"Because of that, we lost any chance of momentum in the game."

Hearts head coach Ian CathroImage source, SNS
    Image caption,

"We've got a lot of making up to do to a lot of people"

"It comes down to individuals, it comes down to little details. But look, maybe the mistake has been us overestimating the stage we're at as a team, and forgetting slightly that we needed to focus more on the more simple, basic things in the game.

"It's a problem for us because that's a couple of backward steps, which we need to accept. From then, we recognise that we've got a lot of making up to do to a lot of people. So, we've overestimated where we are and we [need to] find solutions to it quite quickly."

  5. 'I'm really proud' - Neil Lennonpublished at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2017

    Hibernian 3-1 Hearts

"I'm delighted and really proud of the team as well. Obviously, I got the reaction I was looking for from Saturday [draw at Raith Rovers] and they were magnificent.

"We thoroughly deserved to win and dominated the game for large parts. We were the hungrier team."

    Image caption,

    "We thoroughly deserved to win"

"We exploded at time through them and it [the final scoreline] could've been a lot more.

"I thought they got fortunate with the penalty - I thought it was a penalty - but Ofir Marciano's made a great save and we were slow to react. But we were dominant.

"That is the enigma this team is sometimes: they go from down there to through the roof. We just need to find more consistency.

"I wish we could play under the floodlights every week..."

Inside The SPFL: Hibs had this game won in the 1st half, the 2nd was about seeing the job out which they did as comfortably as they'd ever hope to imagine.

Zico Mikedinho: Well done Hibs. Outplayed Hearts in both ties. Relieved we only got beat 3-1. Interested to hear Ian Cathro defend that effort.

Gavin Skinner: You better ask Cathro some very searching questions. As Michael Stewart said - totally unacceptable.

Graham Roberts: Not only have we got bragging rights but now we also know which team plays the best football in Edinburgh #andheartscomethird, external

    Chris McLaughlin
BBC Sport Scotland at Easter Road

"Hearts have improved as this second half has progressed but they've really failed to build on their goal, which is now looking more and more like a consolation.

"Currie has been lively for them since coming on at the break but they're a beaten side. The fans' biggest disappointment will be the manner of tonight's defeat. They've never been in the fight."
