Michael Stewart: Well played to Hibs & Neil Lennon for a thoroughly deserved victory. Their season is building up well now. I can't believe there has been an overestimation of where Hearts are, what was the basis for that? & regardless, you always have to fight.... 

David Inch: Ian Cathro needs to learn performances speak louder than words. To be honest his rhetoric is starting to bore me! 

Peter McCarter: To suggest it's too early to sack Cathro is ridiculous! How long do we leave it? Till we back in Championship? Going that way...

Ecky: "Overestimated where we are." Eh? That would only make sense if Hearts had been on a strong run previously. They haven't.

"I thought they got fortunate with the penalty - I thought it was a penalty - but Ofir Marciano's made a great save and we were slow to react. But we were dominant.

"That is the enigma this team is sometimes: they go from down there to through the roof. We just need to find more consistency.

"I wish we could play under the floodlights every week..."

Inside The SPFL: Hibs had this game won in the 1st half, the 2nd was about seeing the job out which they did as comfortably as they'd ever hope to imagine. 

Zico Mikedinho: Well done Hibs. Outplayed Hearts in both ties. Relieved we only got beat 3-1. Interested to hear Ian Cathro defend that effort.

Scottish Cup holders Hibs breeze into the quarter-finals - and a tie against Ayr United - with a ruthless dismantling of Hearts in the Edinburgh derby.

The home fans launch into a rendition of Sunshine On Leith; happy days for Hibs but only storm clouds for the Jambos heading out of Easter Road, and home, minus the derby bragging rights.

Hibs keeper Marciano denies Nicholson's fierce drive, sending the effort behind for a corner. Hearts, though, can't profit and the hosts are just about there. 

Three minutes of added time at Easter Road.

Is there time for another goal? Combative Hibs midfielder John McGinn pick-pockets Jamie Walker before fizzing a 20-yard shot at goal... just wide.

Fraser Fyvie replaces the impressive Jason Cummings, the striker hasn't given the frazzled Hearts rearguard a moment's peace tonight.

"Hearts have improved as this second half has progressed but they've really failed to build on their goal, which is now looking more and more like a consolation.

"Currie has been lively for them since coming on at the break but they're a beaten side. The fans' biggest disappointment will be the manner of tonight's defeat. They've never been in the fight."
