"I've got some really good pros in there. They'll know what to pass on to the younger players.

  4. Edinburgh derby a 'fierce rivalry'published at 19:20

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

"A club of our size, we need to be challenging for trophies, getting to semi-finals and finals," says Hearts midfielder Don Cowie.

"There's extra motivation with it being against your rivals and what it means to everybody in the city, but we need to start challenging to win trophies - we want to be in Europe.

"This club is on the way up. Between the training ground and the stadium, everything is geared towards us being successful and we need to do that on the pitch as well.

Hearts midfielder Don Cowie (left) says the Edinburgh derby is "a special game"

"It's a special game. Before I joined the club, it was just a case of watching it on TV and you think it's a big game, but until you're actually playing in it, you realise just how big it is.

"It's a big game, it's going to be fierce, a big rivalry."

  6. Pitch perfect...published at 19:09

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Hearts have started on resurfacing their pitch at Tynecastle Stadium.

The surface has been heavily criticised in recent weeks after it began to cut up badly.

Club owner Ann Budge said work begins this week and the current surface was dug up on Tuesday.

"We are assured it will be completed well in time for our next home game against Ross County on Wednesday 1 March," she said.

  10. Derby storm?published at 19:01

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

BBC Sportsound pundit Allan Preston has informed listeners that the wind is picking up above Easter Road. Hopefully Storm Doris leaves this Scottish Cup replay well alone... and what price some Man City v Monaco-esque defending tonight?

Goals please, and plenty of them...

  11. BBC Sportsound pundit Craig Patersonpublished at 18:58

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

"I'm looking down at the [Easter Road] pitch and it's in good nick - it's flat and there's grass out there.

"The late game [at Tynecastle] was instantly forgettable; as soon as the pitch cut up both teams had to go back to front.

"That doesn't suit either side and there was nothing for the fans and no great goalmouth action, no great saves and nothing really, bar the atmosphere of the derby, to look back at.

"But tonight will be different and the quality will be on show and the players will have the chance to show exactly what they can do.

"It's a derby match, it's a cup tie and the two great rivals are going head to head. The prize for the winners? A Scottish Cup quarter-final tie at home against Ayr United - it's all there for them."

  12. Hearts 'stronger' for Edinburgh derbypublished at 18:53

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

    What of Hearts' preparation?

"I see a Hearts team now that is stronger and more ready to deal with the part of the game when we need to suffer and need to fight," says head coach Ian Cathro.

The Edinburgh rivals met at the same stage of the competition last season, in February, with Hibs winning the replay courtesy of a Jason Cummings goal.

"We have a stronger and more ready group to balance better the high of when it is going for us and also be able to deal with the situation when you have a difficult period of the game," added Cahtro.

"You can't dominate the entirety of the match. The first game gives us information, we have played against the opponents, maybe they will be a little bit different, but there won't be too many changes I would imagine.

"Everyone feels quite clear with what we will be faced with."

  15. 'We've got to turn it around'published at 18:41

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

John McGinn says he and his Hibs team-mates need to "focus" on Neil Lennon's criticism and "prove him wrong".

McGinn, one of three players he singled out by the manager, believes the robust appraisal was justified.

"He'd have been having a go at me because he knows I can do more," the 22-year-old midfielder said.

"He does that because he wants the best out of the players. Me, Jase [Cummings], [Fraser] Fyvie, the ones who were mentioned, we can all do more.

"The manager is the first person to praise us when we do well, so you can't be crying about the negatives.

"We've got to turn it around and prove to the manager that we can do it.

"That's what he wanted from us, a reaction, and we'll give him that [against Hearts]."

  16. Hibs read the riot actpublished at 18:35

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Neil Lennon was fit to pop following Hibernian's 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers last weekend.

"We were an absolute disgrace - a disgrace," Lennon thundered on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

"We had the right colour [yellow] of jersey on today. You can't turn up and play for 30 minutes. We were abject.

"We are going for a title here and trying to extend our lead but we totally disrespected the opponent. I am not happy with that at all and that is creeping in far too often."

How will the Hibs players react to his verbal howitzer when they lock horns with Hearts at Easter Road?
