Here's a shot of Craig Gardner's equaliser. The Blues weren't level for long though...

A stunning strike, as Craig Gardner curls in a beauty - his first goal since the on-loan West Bromwich Albion and former Aston Villa midfielder returned to the club he still supports.

Of course, he's not the first Gardner to score at St Andrew's this season, his Villa-supporting brother Gary having beaten him to it in the 1-1 second city derby draw in October.

Nevertheless, it got a rousing chorus of "Craigy Gardner is a Blue, he hates Villa" from the home Tilton End.

And it sure made for a buoyant St Andrew's for all of four minutes until Chris Wood got his second at the other end - and it all fell quiet again!

You don't see this very often.

Birmingham forward Che Adams goes down in the box under pressure from Kyle Bartley and thinks he should have a penalty... So convinced he puts out his hand and grabs the ball and the referee gives a free-kick the other way.

    He'll be fuming.

Cheick Keita wins a free-kick in a dangerous position on the left, but when Craig Gardner's delivery is deflected out to David Davis, he can only blaze wide for Birmingham.

Second change for Leeds United as Stuart Dallas comes off in place of Alfonso Pedraza in a probable like-for-like change.

Birmingham thrust a couple of balls into the area in the direction of Lukas Jutkiewicz, but he cannot connect properly with any of them.

It's safe to say he will be a marked man in the middle of that box.

How frustrated must Birmingham be with that?

You work hard to get back into the game, and then an in-form striker takes advantage of a defensive slip to slot him an easy goal.

Can Gianfranco Zola's men respond once more or will that sucker punch leave them reeling?

It's that man again, Chris Wood.

He scores his 25th of the season, and it comes after a great flick by Souleymane Doukara to play in Kalvin Phillips, who in turn plays the ball into the middle to find the big centre forward to slot home.

He did have to take advantage of a slip by Birmingham defender Josh Dacres-Cogley, leaving him totally free to find the net.

What a wonderful strike from Craig Gardner to bring Birmingham City level.

The ball drops to the Blues midfielder about 25 yards out and he controls a swerving shot, which takes a deflection off Stuart Dallas, into the bottom corner, leaving Rob Green no chance.

That's his first Birmingham goal since 2011, after rejoining in January.

Cheick Keita shows some rather fancy footwork down the left-hand side for Birmingham, but when he plays it to David Davis, the Leeds players crowd out the Birmingham man's strike.

Birmingham have been pretty dominant in this half, so Leeds think it's time for a change.

Eunan O'Kane jogs off, Kalvin Phillips jogs on.

One of the more bizarre clearances from Leeds' Pablo Hernandez, who tries to clear a corner over his own head, but instead smashes it out for another corner.

Thankfully for him, it's cleared by a team-mate.

Another chance for Che Adams, but it's a fine save from Rob Green to deny him.

Leeds centre-back Pontus Jansson loses possession, and Adams is played through one-on-one with Green, who manages to claw away a powerful strike at goal.

It was almost a carbon copy save of the one below in the first half.

Birmingham are knocking on that door.

Again it comes from the right, as Nsue plays in Maikel Kieftenbeld, who crosses for Che Adams.

Adams rises highest, but it's cleared off the line by Kyle Bartley, before the ball finds it's way to Robert Tesche on the edge of the box but Adams can only turn his low strike over.

Emilio Nsue is a constant threat down the right-hand side for Birmingham and again manages to find a cross into the middle, but Che Adams cannot direct his header at goal.

This result is far from complete for Leeds.

There's always a few ex players knocking about in any press box at any game, but few could play the game as well as this one - Leeds United legend Eddie Gray.

The mazy-dribbling Scotland international left winger was a key part of Don Revie's great team of the late 1960s and early 1970s, went on to manage the club and now works as a match summariser.
