It was all a bit easy for Brighton in the end. Derby had more possession but did very little with it.

    FT: Brighton 3-0 Derby

Brighton's Anthony Knockaert told Sky Sports: "Every three points is one more step to automatic promotion. The job is done. Now we have a good week and time to rest for the game against Leeds.

"We started well, we played great football and we scored early. At 2-0 up at half-time if you keep a clean sheet you get the three points."

    Brighton 3-0 Derby

As comprehensive a home win as you are likely to see. Not a shot on target by Derby as Brighton go top. Anthony Knockaert was outstanding, the Seagulls just too good.

Smiles everywhere you look among the Brighton fans and players. Abject misery for their Derby counterparts.

Sam Baldock goes very close to making it 4-0, but his deflected effort trickles just wide.

    Brighton 3-0 Derby

Derby are soon to be put out of their misery. On the pitch at least.

Manager Steve McClaren is likely to be a very angry man having witnessed this display. To understate things, they have been second best.

    Brighton 3-0 Derby

Derby's fans have little to cheer as they contemplate a long, depressing trek back to the East Midlands.

They have just sarcastically applauded a corner, just their second of the game. They still haven't had a shot on target.

The players and management don't look too happy either.

Sensibly Chris Hughton looks to rest his key men with the game won. Anthony Knockaert comes off, making way for Solly March.

Job done and the Brighton pair can discuss their goals from the sidelines.

    Brighton 3-0 Derby

It's all over now. Glenn Murray darts into the box, and his side-footed effort from Anthony Knockaert's cross is saved by keeper Scott Carson, but rebounds straight in.

Lucky in the end but Brighton have been on top throughout so Derby can have no complaints.

There's not a lot of shape to the match now. Very bitty. Brighton won't care.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Scott Carson hasn't had much to look back on with any glee tonight. Two goals conceded and the Derby keeper has just taken his second hefty whack of the game.

At least this time it was from an opponent, with the sizeable figure of Glenn Murray smashing into him to concede a free-kick as the striker went all out for a header in the Rams box.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Derby have kept possession a bit better after the break. the introduction of Will Hughes and change in formation has helped

But still they are barely threatening the Brighton goal. Calling it a sporadic threat would be kind.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Anthony Knockaert floats over a free-kick for Brighton who would love the security of a third goal to wrap up things at the Amex, but it drifts out.

Glenn Murray then has a shot blocked in the box.

Derby still have time as we enter the final 20 minutes.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Brighton's Glenn Murray hasn't got on the scoresheet but he has been hugely influential. The decision to rest him against Rotherham looks a wise one.

He looks sharp, is holding up the ball well, winning his headers and generally being a pain in the neck to the Derby defence.

Brighton captain Bruno comes off to standing ovation from the home fans.

The Spaniard has had another more than steady game. On-loan Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomoro comes on.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

The closest the Rams have come to a goal sees a Matej Vydra header rebound off the top of the post and away to safety. A great effort.

That would have been two in two for the Rams striker.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Brighton break away but Sam Baldock is stopped in his tracks on the left.

In the last couple of minutes both teams are lucky not to have players yellow carded, Bruno could easily have gone in the book, as could Derby's Craig Bryson.

    Brighton 2-0 Derby

Brighton are not afraid to pump it long when it makes sense. Derby's pressing forces them to do that, but with Glenn Murray winning his fair share of headers, it's often a good tactic.
