    Manchester City 0-0 Hull

Yaya Toure hits the target from the free-kick, but Eldin Jakupovic tips it over.

It was one of those, dead centre of the goal, where you're not sure if it suits a left or a right-footer.

The right of Toure got the nod, but couldn't find the corner.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 29 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Hull

That's the first booking of the day.

Evandro just can't fight the temptation to dive in on Sergio Aguero as the Argentine scuttles across the edge of the box.

That sir, is a yellow card.

Oooo. Not too far away from Yaya Toure.

He's got that technique down to a T. Ball running towards him, opening up the body and nonchalantly curling one towards the top corner from 25 yards.

This time it drops onto the roof of the net.

Talking of diagonal passes, it's ping city from the City centre-backs today.

John Stones earlier, and now Aleksandar Kolarov with a beautifully-weighted left-footed diagonal out to Raheem Sterling on the right flank.

It comes to nothing, but looked great.

Just looking at John Stones, he's played a beautiful diagonal pass and his technique is brilliant for a central defender. I know sometimes he gets a bit of stick and we'd like to see him defend more.

    Manchester City 0-0 Hull

Well, having dominated for a majority of the first 20 minutes, City are now being reduced to pop shots from distance.

Sergio Aguero turns on the edge of the box and looks to unleash a right-footed belter, but he doesn't catch it cleanly and it trickles wide of Eldin Jakupovic's post.

  7. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Hull

That's cracking hold up play from Oumar Niasse.

Big, strong, just what you want from your centre forward as he fends off a couple of City tackles before sending Andrew Robertson galloping away down the left.

Robertson gives it back to the big man, but he just can't get a shot off.

    More promising from the visitors.

It's not just the German with pace to burn, he opens up this time before switching play to the right to find Raheem Sterling.

The England winger cuts inside onto his left, but can't beat the first man with a shot.

Leroy Sane seems to be involved in everything City do, mind.

Sergio Aguero hands him the ball this time as the hosts pour forward, but a it's a wild left-footed effort that sails wide.

Talking or Leroy Sane, when he has space in front of him he can switch through the gears in an instant.

The young forward seems to almost glide across the surface as he gobbles up ground before winning a corner.

It goes long to John Stones, who nods back into the danger zone but can't find a team-mate.

  10. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Hull

Hull have most definitely set up to hit Manchester City on the break. And why not?

The hosts try a short corner routine, but I doubt that's how that saw it pan out on the training ground, as Leroy Sane is out-muscled by Oumar Niasse.

It's been all City so far, but Pep Guardiola will be wary of Marco Silva's side springing quickly from their own half.

Pep Guardiola and his backroom team were at the centre of a row with some of the Chelsea backroom staff at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

No sign of any animosity around the dug-outs today.

Guardiola and opposite number Marco Silva had a warm embrace before the Manchester City boss went to the Hull bench to shake hands with the other members of the Silva's coaching staff.

Well that was a big chance for Manchester City.

Could Leroy Sane have done more? Perhaps. David Silva might have also fancied himself to do better with the ball on his left foot inside the area.

Beaut of a day at Etihad Stadium.

One for slick passing and free-flowing football? City think so...

They string a lovely move together between Sergio Aguero and David Silva that ends with the Spaniard shooting straight at Eldin Jakupovic.

The Hull City keeper is then up in a flash to deny Leroy Sane from the rebound.

    Slack from Fabian Delph.

Back in the City side of late, he sends a sloppy pass into no man's land and the nippy Lazar Markovic picks it up.

He drives forward, running at the hosts' back four, but the pass can't find a black shirt and it's mopped up by City inside their own box.

It's the big 300 today for David Silva.

Can you believe he's racked up that many games for the club?

With Vincent Kompany on the bench, the 31-year-old Spaniard gets the armband for the day.

The targets for both clubs are crystal clear: Manchester City have to be playing Champions League football next season, while Hull are desperate to keep their place at the top table.

After a testing run against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea which yielded only two points, Manchester City have little room for error and this is a fixture they will hope to tick off without any drama.

Hull, though, have renewed belief following a run of nine points from the last 12 to kick-start their survival campaign.

Significantly, all those points have come at home and their solitary win on the road was back in August at Swansea.

However,  as Crystal Palace proved last weekend,  at this stage of the season you should never say never.

Hull City defender Harry Maguire was asked by Damian Johnson if he was surprised when Marco Silva was appointed as Mike Phelan's replacement:

"We were to be honest. Credit to the chairman for bringing him in because his record is unbelievable. He hasn't lost a home game in about three years," said the 24-year-old.

"He has come in and turned it around and we're all confident in the dressing room that we can stay in the Premier League.

"When these big games come up against us we can produce performances like we did on Wednesday."
