If West Ham lose this they will be deep in trouble, while Swansea's cave in against Tottenham means another defeat could open a chasm between them and safety.

Slaven Bilic has the backing of the owners for now but he must get four points from this and the Sunderland away game next week. After that, Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool lurk in the run-in.

Five defeats in a row and no wins in seven makes grim reading for the Hammers.

Four consecutive away defeats is concerning for the Swans but for a long while they were  decent against Spurs.  They could catch West Ham on another nervy day at the new stadium.

This is the situation at the bottom. Sunderland look doomed, and Middlesbrough will also be getting that sinking feeling if they fail to win at home today against Burnley.

Swansea face a massive game at fellow strugglers West Ham, while Hull will be looking to continue their recent revival at Manchester City.

  3. Team news - the Ayew derbypublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

West Ham v Swansea (15:00 BST)

Just the one change for West Ham from the side that lost 3-0 at Arsenal in midweek.

Andy Carroll, who came off during that game, drops to the bench, with Robert Snodgrass coming in. It means Andre Ayew will play as a lone striker for the Hammers, while his brother Jordan will be up front for Swansea.

Swansea , who capitulated late on against Tottenham on Wednesday, name the same starting XI.

Swans top scorer Fernando Llorente has missed two games with an ankle injury and is among the substitutes.

  5. It was not meant to be this waypublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

When West Ham left their beloved Upton Park ground and moved into the London Stadium, the club's fans thought it was a new era that would see the Hammers battling at the top of the table.

But this season has turned into a disaster for West Ham fans. Five defeats in a row, no wins in seven, only one victory in nine.

And things could get worse, a lot worse, for the Hammers. A home defeat against Swansea today would leave the Hammers firmly in a relegation battle.
