    Aberdeen are looking every bit the second best team in Scotland as they dominate Hearts.

    Manager Derek McInnes is unhappy that such form has not persuaded Scotland head coach Gordon Strachan to call up midfield trio Kenny McLean, Graeme Shinnie and Ryan Jack.

    Should any of those be in a Scotland squad already bursting at the seams with midfielders but short in other areas? And, if so, who should be dropped to make way?

    The home fans looking fairly satisfied here as the players head up the tunnel at the break. Despite Hearts early chances, they've been pretty poor all across the pitch. Aberdeen have dominated the midfield and that has been the key. How long before Ian Cathro tinkers?

    It is a bit similar to the last game at Tynecastle, where Aberdeen dominated. The tactics have been poor by Hearts - the long balls to Goncalves up front - and Niall McGinn has been on fire for Aberdeen

    Hearts director of football Craig Levein has been passing a few instructions in the stand to Jon Daly and the Hearts coach has rushed down the Pittodrie stairs to pass on some instructions to assistant manager Austin MacPhee.

    MacPhee is now in discussion with head coach Ian Cathro.

    That TV picture will only give extra ammunition to those who think the former Hearts and Scotland manager has an influence on first-team matters.

    Hearts had the two best chances of the game, both through Sam Nicholson, before Aberdeen opened the scoring.

    Nicholson tested the goalkeeper with his first but missed a great chance with his second and that miss could prove costly as the Dons have taken a firm grip on the game.
