Sam Clucas takes a free-kick from deep - Hull again use Harry Maguire as a focal point at the back post, the captain winning yet another header back across the area but yet again Southampton are wise to it and win the second ball.

The first half was intriguing, at least. This has been pretty poor since the break though.

Finally a burst of life in this second half as Andrew Robertson strides into the Southampton area but the left-back's reverse pass finds a red-and-white shirt instead of a black one.

Not the best of clearances from Andrew Robertson as the ball falls to Steven Davis but the Saints captain can't quite wrap his foot round the ball enough to keep his shot down.

And it's Josh Sims on for Sofiane Boufal, with Shane Long replacing Manolo Gabbiadini.

Saints' costly pair had looked underwhelming out there - time for a bit of a youth and a burst of pace.

Nathan Redmond comes forward and unleashes a shot well over the bar.

Nice turn from Dusan Tadic as he finds Nathan Redmond and then gets the ball back but his shot is deflected wide, before Hull clear from the corner.

Hull look to get in down the Southampton right but Jack Stephens does really well to guide Lazar Markovic off the ball and clear.

Southampton nearly have a great chance to go ahead as Cedric is free on the right, his cross finding an unmarked Sofiane Boufal on the edge of the area.

Boufal skips past one tackle - he may have got a penalty had he gone down - only to have Harry Maguire take the ball off his toes with a wonderfully-timed tackle to prevent the Moroccan getting a shot off.

Harry Maguire of all people strides forcefully out of defence, ball at his feet, trying to spark an early Hull attack.

Southampton are alert enough though to prevent the visitors getting in a decent delivery and finally smother the ball away from them.

Prior to kick-off at BBC Sport towers we were discussing the most incident-free Premier League games this season (top of that sorry pile is Crystal Palace 1-0 Watford on 18 March by the way).

Well three of the four 3pm kick-offs are making an unwanted bid for consideration in that category so far.
