That goal summed up everything you need to know about Lucy Bronze - hard work and intelligent movement.

She darted in front of the Austrian defence to intercept the clearance and was there quickest once again to lift in the rebound. She anticipated the likelihood of a rebound and followed it in.

Ellen White could have had a brace - they could both have scored. But Bronze wasn't taking any chances. She made certain.

Bronze doubles England's advantagepublished at 69 mins

    England 2-0 Austria

Austria fail to clear the ball as it pings around the area, falling to Izzy Christiansen, who hits a dipping shot on the turn that cracks the underside of the crossbar with Zinsberger beaten but bounces out.

Fortunately for England, Lucy Bronze was following in to complete a simple finish.

Zinsberger wanted offside but Bronze came from behind the last Austria defender - Ellen White was also in there and could've been offside but Bronze certainly wasn't.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 51 mins

    England 1-0 Austria

And again! Manuela Zinsberger is on one here.

This time it's a terrific double save from Izzy Christiansen at the back post, Zinsberger saving the first effort well with her left foot before repelling the follow-up from point-blank range with her right.

Frustrating for England but Zinsberger is keeping her side in this one brilliantly.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    England 1-0 Austria

Brilliant stuff from Manuela Zinsberger yet again, staying big to deny Toni Duggan, who was played clear on goal by Jade Moore.

It's a disappointing finish from Duggan too though, who appeared to be shocked to find herself onside.

    England 1-0 Austria

Decent approach play from England finds Lucy Bronze on the right - her cross squirms through to Toni Duggan, who can't quite sort her feet out to get a shot off.

Mark Sampson is incensed - not at Duggan though, he wants a penalty for a pull back on Izzy Christiansen as she initially tried to reach Bronze's ball.

It's risky from the Austrian defender but effective.

Mark Sampson has plenty of options on the bench and could well make a series of changes in the second half, although he did make just the three subs against Italy on Friday in a bid to replicate the 'tournament intensity'.

Uncapped quartet Hannah Blundell, Mel Lawley, Sophie Baggaley and Jessica Carter are all on the bench and they might wonder why they were called up - given that none of them are in the separate Euro 2017 squad - if they don't get at least some minutes tonight.

So you'd expect at least one or two of them to get a senior debut. They've all been warming up down the touchline.

England will be pleased to be ahead, but they know they can play with greater intensity and fluidity than this.

Ellen White's good movement and instinctive glance into the far corner sees them in front.

But other than that and one good save, Austria keeper Manuela Zinsberger has rarely been called to action.

The Lionesses are perhaps missing the box-to-box energy of Jill Scott in central midfield.
