Little threat from Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale this half. This has been a very ordinary performance by the leaders yet they are going five points clear at the top unless Alaves can score the goal they have been threatening.

Another chance for Alaves - Manu's glancing header flying just wide with Kiko Casilla well off his line. 

Zinedine Zidane has seen enough. He makes his second change - midfielder Mateo Kovacic replacing Luka Modric who looks shattered.

What is going on in Real's defence? Edgar is totally unmarked inside the penalty area but goes for a cross - which is again over-hit - when he should have had a crack himself. Then Deyverson heads wastefully over. Alaves will be kicking themselves if they don't get anything from this.

Zinedine Zidane has ordered his substitutes to warm up. Changes are on the way. They're needed too to take the sting out of Alaves and see this through.

Whistles from the home fans who are not happy at what they are seeing. Real have fallen asleep and would be behind but for some woeful finishing.

Incredible. Another huge chance for Alaves but still Real have the lead.

Edgar is unmarked at the back post when a deep cross lands at his feet but he puts it wide to the astonishment of everyone inside the Bernabeu.

They won't get a better chance than that.

Real are dicing with danger. Brazilian forward Deyverson is in acres of space but somehow heads well wide after poor defending by the hosts. That should have been the equaliser.

Danilo is back on his feet but a little groggy. Real have the ball in the net as Ronaldo powers into the penalty area before placing his shot but an offside flag cuts short the celebrations. He was well offside, by the way.

Real Madrid 1-0 Alaves

Just as they did in the first half, Alaves have started well after the interval. Real have been far from their best and now Danilo is receiving treatment after being flattened by Gaizka Toquero. He landed with a real thud after that challenge.
