Can 46-year-olds get away with wearing a denim jacket? Barca boss Luis Enrique travelled for his team's game at Granada donning the garment. The big question is: Will he be wearing it on the touchline later? 

So far so good for Real.

Worrying scenes as Gareth Bale goes down clutching his ankle after firing wide following Cristiano Ronald's cut-back.

It's OK. Bale climbs to his feet after a few moments and signals he is fine to continue.

Alaves need to change something. Having settled quickly they are now second best and don't look like testing Kiko Casilla who is having a very easy afternoon.

As it stands, Real are going five points clear at the top having played the same number of games as Barcelona. That's a decent cushion although that could vanish when the two teams meet on El Clasico day on 23 April.

Karim Benzema now has nine La Liga goals this season. He has some catching up to do if he is to challenge Lionel Messi, who tops La Liga's goalscoring charts with 25. Unlikely.

Benzema's goal has energised Real. A free-kick by Cristiano Ronaldo is heading for the corner of the net when it is deflected behind off a blue and white shirt.  

First serious save of the game by Fernando Pacheco as he falls to his knees to keep out Cristiano Ronaldo after he had wiggled free of his marker to direct a low shot towards the net. Real need more of that. Much more.

Great skill by Isco as he produces a drag back inside the Alaves penalty area before shooting...wide. That's the story of Real's game so far. Decent build-up but their finishing is disappointing.

Barcelona's players will be liking what they have seen so far from their base in Granada ahead of the late game. Real are struggling to carve out chances and mid-table Alaves have settled really well.

Real's radar is looking a little rusty. Another shot off target - this time by substitute Dani Carvajal. Still no serious saves for keeper Fernando Pacheco to make.

Alaves are on the back foot as Cristiano Ronaldo surges forward and it takes a cynical barge by Rodrigo Ely to stop Real's danger man. It earns the Alaves player a yellow card and the hosts a free-kick which Gareth Bale fires disappointingly wide.

Decent chance for Real as Karim Benzema creates space for himself inside the D but balloons his effort high and wide. That's about as close as Real have come to scoring so far.

There's an air of confidence about Alaves. They've settled quickly and Victor Camarasa's shot is blocked for a corner.

The visitors have brought around 800 fans to the Bernabeu. They're making the noise of 8,000.

Early blow for Real as French defender Raphael Varane picks up a knock and is forced off. Dani Carvajal enters the action much earlier than he expected.

It's been a slow start by the hosts who are struggling to create chances and are far from their fluid best.

First sign of danger from Gareth Bale as he gets behind the Basque club's defence but he's quickly dispossessed by a blue and white shirt.

Alaves have enjoyed an excellent season since winning promotion from Spain's second-tier last term. Not only have they claimed a famous win at Barcelona, the team managed by former Liverpool defender Mauricio Pellegrino have reached the final of the Copa del Rey.

They've settled quickly at the Bernabeu after surviving that early Ronaldo scare.
