Summary

  • Celtic Scottish Premiership champions

  • Hearts lose fifth game in six

  1. Some home comfort for Heartspublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 2 April 2017

    Hearts v Celtic (12:30)

Let's not forget the home team. Hearts have been pretty dire since Ian Cathro took over, with the callow manager winning a mere four of the 17 games he has overseen.

The Edinburgh side are fifth in the table, 20 points behind Aberdeen in second, having been Celtic's nearest challengers when previous boss Robbie Neilson left for MK Dons at the end of November.

But they don't lose too many at Tynecastle. The Jambos have eight wins and four draws from their 15 league games on their own turf this season.

  2. Dons hit seven to delay the partypublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 2 April 2017

    Hearts v Celtic (12:30)

Aberdeen are second best at the moment, a whopping 22 points behind Celtic.

The Celtic party could have started on Friday if the Dons had lost at Dens Park but Derek McInnes' side had different ideas, knocking in seven goals.

Aberdeen's form has been terrific, winning 11 of their past 13 in the league, which is yet another way of underlining how impressive Celtic's lead is.

  3. Roving role for Roberts?published at 11:42 British Summer Time 2 April 2017

    Hearts v Celtic (12:30)

Patrick Roberts comes in for Moussa Dembele, while Hearts make two alterations from their last outing, with Perry Kitchen and Bjorn Johnsen taking over from the injured Arnaud Djoum and Sam Nicholson, who drops to the bench.

Roberts or Scott Sinclair will presumbaly take the central striking role, or maybe they will take turns.

Before Hearts fans get too excited, it should be pointed out that Dembele and Griffiths were missing the last time the teams met and that one ended 4-0 in Celtic's favour.

  6. Rodgers has record in sightpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 2 April 2017

    Hearts v Celtic (12:30)

It's been quite a debut season for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

A 22-point lead in the league at the beginning of April, the League Cup in the bag and a Scottish Cup semi-final to come later this month.

A win today would mark the earliest title success, with eight games to spare. Seven has been done twice before in 38-game campaigns.

  7. Back where it all startedpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 2 April 2017

    Hearts v Celtic (12:30)

Celtic kicked off their Premiership campaign at Tynecastle on 7 August and this is where they can clinch the title.

In the season opener, Scott Sinclair knocked in a late goal for a 2-1 win and Brendan Rodgers' side have not looked back, still unbeaten domestically.

Can they keep that run going today and wrap up a sixth successive top flight crown? Celtic need a win to confirm what has been inevitable for months.
