Hamilton Accies manager Martin Canning says the club will appeal against the red card issued to Giannis Skondras.

The Greek left-back was dismissed just before half-time for a foul on County's Ryan Dow.

"I've just seen it back and it isn't a red card," Canning told BBC Scotland.

"Ioannis has gone for the ball along the ground and I think it looks worse than it is because of the speed they are both going at."

Canning felt there was "absolutely no intent" to from his player to hurt Dow.

"It's just unfortunate for Skondras that Ryan is quick and he's just got a wee toe on it before Ioannis can get there.

"Referees have got a hard job with things happening at that speed, but it seems to be for us just that we seem to be on the wrong end of a few decisions that go against us.

"I spoke to the referee and he was quite convinced it was [a sending off]. I hate being critical of them because it is a difficult job, but what i can't keep on doing is standing here after we've had decisions go against us that costs us, and keep on defending them [referees] because we need to start getting them right for us.

"Ultimately, there's a lot at stake here. It's potentially cost us two points and it could have cost us more."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright: "We went in 1-0 at half-time without playing particularly well but looked a threat. We looked comfortable enough and then the sending-off, we were ruthless. We scored two and maybe could have scored two or three more.

"The attitude to go and kick on and make sure we got that second goal, to make sure we weren't having any problems in the last few minutes, was excellent.

"It's been a week that didn't start so well that's ended absolutely magnificently for us. We enjoy defending. We don't panic when we're under pressure. We're a good side that can do both sides of the game.

"There's a better chance tonight (of finishing third) but we're not going to get carried away. We'll just keep working away. It keeps us five ahead of Hearts. It was an important result."

BBC Scotland football pundit Allan Preston: "I think Inverness need to win three out of the six games left. You can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. I watched them at Tynecastle earlier in the season and I was worried about them. They could be the ones slipping out automatically. I think if you were say to Richie Foran to take the play-off spot he would take it."

Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran didn't spare his players - or himself - in assessing his side's 3-0 home defeat by St Johnstone, which leaves them four points adrift at the bottom.

"It is a tough time of the season to be sitting bottom, and I need real men to stand up to that, but not enough of them did that today," he tells BBC Scotland.

"It is pure luck we are still in it and it is only four points. I sound like a broken record but one win changes it - that is the truth.  But I need braver players with more passion and desire. We controlled aspects of the game without having that ruthless edge to it. I don't think we believed today.

"The main person who is not good enough is me.  I am obviously not doing my job right and big apologies to the supporters. I believe we let them down today.

"It is not good enough. I pick the team, I pick the shape, I will take 90% of the blame for that but the players need to stand up as well." 

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers : "I thought it was an outstanding team performance, some of the quality, movement and speed. Lee (McCulloch) set his team up very well. They were very tight and difficult to break down. A big applause to the crowd. They are now seeing what we are trying to do. They didn't get frustrated.

"Our only mistake was for the goal, which was a counter-attack. We didn't protect the game well enough from behind when we lost the ball, but we showed a lovely charisma today. I enjoyed watching my team today.

"I'm sure Lee will do very well in his management career."

With places now confirmed in the top and bottom six of the Premiership, the post-split fixtures will be announced early next week.

The SPFL says dates for games, subject to TV arrangements, are the weekends of 29 April, 6 May and 13 May, the midweek of 17 May, and the weekend of 20 May. 

On the final weekend, bottom-six fixtures will be played on Saturday 20 May and top-six matches on the following day.

Hearts head coach Ian Cathro : "It's a small step and we want to move on very quickly from this game. I'd like us to be a little bit quicker and finish our attacks and make more chances. We'll look to be a bit more clinical in games. We're suffering from a lack of positive results; there are no other issues. We are strong together. We want everyone to come with us."

BBC Scotland football pundit Derek Ferguson: "There wasn't a lot of quality at times for the 4,229 fans. The opening goal came from the lively Jason Cummings with a fine strike from 15 yards on the angle. Never-say-die Morton equalised from the spot in the 66th minute through Lawrence Shankland. That seemed to energise Morton and it was Shankland who tried his luck near the end of the game with a sizzler that went just over the bar."

Celtic were given a fright by Killie when Jordan Jones levelled for the visitors but goals by Scott Sinclair and James Forrest added to Stuart Armstrong's opener to make it yet another win for the champions.

Ten-man Accies earn a point which nudges them out of the relegation play-off place and into 10th, leapfrogging local rivals Motherwell courtesy of goal difference.

The second half was one-way traffic, with County making their extra man felt, but Alex Gogic wasted a very good chance to make it maximum points for the hosts in stoppage time.

A big chance for 10-man Hamilton to sneak it... Dougie Imrie scurries up the right flank and centres for Alex Gogic, who cuts inside his man in the penalty area only to skew a shot wide.

It was probably more nervy than it should have been given Hearts' dominance, but Ian Cathro's side nevertheless end a run of three straight defeats with only their second win in 10 games.  For Dundee, it is a sixth consecutive loss.
