No changes for either side at the start of the second half. Real have midfielder Isco and forward Alvaro Morata among their subs. I suspect Zinedine Zidane will look to use his bench as he looks to rest legs ahead of next week's Champions League semi-final.

Real have bossed possession but Valencia have stood toe-to-toe with their opponents in terms of shots.

Valencia have drawn four of their last five league games at the Bernabeu. They have work to do to force another one. 

So Granada and Tony Adams have finally been put out of their misery. Their next game? Real Madrid at home next Saturday.

News from earlier and Tony Adams' Granada have been relegated to the Spanish second tier after a 2-1 defeat at Real Sociedad.

Carlos Vela and Juanmi, formerly of Arsenal and Southampton respectively, scored the hosts' goals as Granada suffered a fourth successive defeat under Adams.

Adams said on Friday he was switching focus to next season.

The 50-year-old, who took charge on 10 April, has a contract to the end of the current campaign.

Hardly vintage Real but they have the advantage - and they're back on top of the table as it stands.

A reminder to Real they still have work to do as Munir El Haddadi - on loan from Barcelona - finds space just outside the area before curling just wide.

The weather hasn't improved in the Spanish capital but Real's fans have found their voices. The pressure is back on Barca if they win this.

There's not an awful lot happening - Real seem content to keep possession as half time approaches.

Valencia are looking to avoid a third straight La Liga defeat. Their bright start, when they hit the post, seems an awful long time ago. They'll have to come from behind if they are to record a famous league double over Real.

Real are doing a terrific job at pressing their opponents and forcing Valencia into mistakes. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are dominating the engine room.

Replays of Ronaldo's goal show Real's No 7 got the better of Eliaquim Mangala to score. What an effortless header. Real are beginning to dominate and Valencia face a crucial period - they can't afford to concede a second before the interval.

Cristiano Ronaldo fizzes the resulting free-kick narrowly over the bar before Valencia concede another needless free-kick from shooting distance. This time Toni Lato is guilty of clipping the inside of Karim Benzema's foot and another yellow card is produced.

Valencia need to watch their discipline. There's some meaty challenges going in.

Daniel Parejo is not in the mood to take any prisoners as he leaves James Rodriguez in a crumpled heap after lunging in on the Real player. Out comes the yellow card. No complaints from the Valencia player.

It's end to end as Fabian Orellana drags a decent chance well wide before Real break and Karim Benzema forces Diego Alves into a decent save after creating space for himself. 

Real are threatening to build up a head of steam. Benzema is hauled down as he gets behind Valencia's defence but he is offside. Frustrating so far for Zinedine Zidane's men.

Have Real got their minds on Tuesday's Champions League semi? It's pretty sluggish by the hosts before Ronaldo cross for Benzema but the French striker's header is tame and Diego Alves gathers comfortably.
