    Huddersfield 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Izzy Brown is in the action again and he plays a nice one-two with Nahki Wells that almost threads Tommy Smith through on goal.

But, the defender strays offside on his surge forward and Wednesday's back line can breathe again.

I'd said the first mistake could be pivotal and Izzy Brown really should have punished the Wednesday error there.

The Chelsea loanee was caught out by the ball breaking to him and couldn't organise his feet quick enough to get a clean contact.

Either way, it's the best chance of the game so far by a distance.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 23 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

There goes Izzy Brown again for Huddersfield and his mis-cued effort inside the Wednesday area comes off the top of the crossbar.

Wednesday's defenders get themselves in a bit of tangle after Kachunga put a ball in and Brown wasn't able to steady himself when the ball unexpectedly found its way to him on the half-volley.

Again lots of time on the ball for Huddersfield, but Wednesday content to sit off and let them come at them.

The hosts are just looking for that pinpoint through ball to open things up and Izzy Brown tries to break the lines, but Wednesday dispossess him on the edge of the box.

This is like the early rounds of a heavyweight boxing clash. Lots of shadow punches thrown and jabbing at distance, but nobody has yet landed a decent blow.

Huddersfield with plenty of possession, but little of note in terms of attempts on goal. In fact, zero shots on target.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

The stats really don't lie at present that it's been pretty much all Huddersfield in this opening quarter.

Possession is at 74% for the hosts and Wednesday are struggling to get a look in as Steven Fletcher is penalised in the area for a foul on Tommy Smith.

Huddersfield's attack has been characterised by its industry all season and both Nahki Wells and Elias Kachunga have already shown that today will be no different.

The hosts have settled slightly quicker here, but Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal does not look too upset by what he has seen so far.

Free-kick for Huddersfield some 40 yards out....

Chris Lowe strikes it straight at the Wednesday wall and Daniel Pudil is down on the deck.

Replays make it appear it struck his arm, but he goes down clutching his face. Another free-kick awarded to the Terriers.

Ten minutes played and so far it's the home side who've come out the blocks that bit quicker with the intensity.

Wednesday look organised at the back and prepared for a dogfight in this one you feel.

Tenacious play by Elias Kachunga down the Huddersfield right as he battles to win back a lost cause deep in Wednesday's half.

He wins the ball and squares to Aaron Mooy, but the Australian's left-foot effort goes well wide of target.

Maybe not so implausible Dan, but Huddersfield know they've got a huge battle on their hands to overcome Wednesday in this semi-final.

Not a huge amount given away by both sides so far.

Dan Washbourn: In the era of Brexits and Trumps etc is it so implausible that little Huddersfield can defy the odds and reach the promised land?

Just as I type that, Hefele's next encounter with Forestieri sees him climb all over the Wednesday striker's shoulders and referee Paul Tierney awards the visitors a free-kick.

We might see a few more battles between those two....

    Huddersfield 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Patient start on the ball for Huddersfield and Michael Hefele passes his first test of the afternoon against Fernando Forestieri at the back.

Plenty of noise from the home fans in the early stages as an Aaron Mooy free-kick fails to find a home shirt on the edge of the Wednesday box.

It's generally an error to try and predict anything in the play-offs, but form would suggest this is going to be tight.

The Owls conceded 45 goals in their 46 league games this season while Huddersfield managed just two goals in their last four games and drew two blanks against Wednesday.

This is a game where the first mistake could prove to be pivotal.

    Here we go then.

Huddersfield kick-off in their traditional blue and white stripes and Wednesday in their change strip of black shirts and orange shorts.

Wednesday's powerful resources have tended to eventually overwhelm Huddersfield, and on balance of squad budgets alone, this could well end up the case again en route to Wembley.

But the stubborn originality of the Terriers' in-house culture is guaranteed to test Wednesday at various points - watch Elias Kachunga and Tommy Smith's run-timings, or cult-hero Aaron Mooy's poise on the ball, for example - woe betide Wednesday if they turn up undercooked.

Don't read anything into Huddersfield's two end-of-season losses to Birmingham and Cardiff; Wagner and his side couldn't wait to get those two "dead" fixtures out of the way; I'm convinced we'll see the best version of Huddersfield enter the play-offs, and quite possibly, the Premier League.
