That goal could hardly have come at a better time as the home fans were just starting to show their frustration at their side's lack of a killer touch.

With both teams so good defensively a late second could give Bradford a huge advantage for Sunday's second leg.

  2. SUBSTITUTION (Bradford)published at 21:32 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

Nicky Law goes off for the dominant hosts, with Timothee Dieng coming on to warm applause.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Millwall 0-0 Scunthorpe

Millwall look to launch a free-kick into the Scunthorpe box but it goes wrong and the visitors clear.

Stephen Dawson looks to break for the Iron and Millwall skipper Tony Craig steams across and unceremoniously shoves him over.

If this game went on for another half an hour I'd fancy there'd be a red card...

    Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

It could be 2-0, as James Meredith comes steaming in from deep at the far post, unmarked, to meet a hanging, right-wing cross.. But he heads well wide.

Here was the first goal of the 2016-17 EFL play-offs.

Rory McArdle's jump was perfect and his angled header has Bradford in front.

    Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

There are seven minutes plus stoppage time left at Valley Parade for Fleetwood to find an equaliser, or for Bradford to extend their lead...

  7. SUBSTITUTION (Fleetwood)published at 21:25 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

The visitors make their third and final change of this first leg, as David Ball goes off and the pacey Wes Burns comes on.

    Millwall 0-0 Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe have had their first shot on target, with 80 minutes on the clock.

Their top scorer Josh Morris strikes a free-kick from range but it's straight down the throat of Millwall keeper Jordan Archer, who I'm mentioning for the first time tonight.

Someone lost their man. Fleetwood have suffered for that reason.

But Bradford have got another surge of energy now. It is almost as if they've got another player on the pitch!

What a noise now around Valley Parade. They believe they're on their way...

Bradford get the breakthroughpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

At last they get the goal they've deserved! Rory McArdle times his run perfectly from a left-wing corner to divert a powerful header past Alex Cairns.

Valley Parade erupts! Bradford have been totally dominant. And the relief is clear to see!

Scunthorpe captain Stephen Dawson surges down the wing in an attempt to force the issue, but is almost too keen and runs out the ball out of play.

At least he had a go - I feel there are a few out there tonight that are playing things a bit safe in fear of making a mistake.

At the other end Steve Morison hooks the ball over his shoulder but it's a soft effort and caught by Joe Anyon.

The back three centre-halves for Fleetwood have been fantastic.

    Bradford 0-0 Fleetwood

At the other end, the lively Ashley Hunter cuts inside dangerously for the visitors but his left-footed strike goes way, way over the bar. He didn't catch it cleanly.

  16. SUBSTITUTION (Millwall)published at 21:18 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Millwall 0-0 Scunthorpe

Aiden O'Brien comes on for Shane Ferguson as the home side look to find that spark.

The left winger scored against Scunthorpe when the sides met in the regular-season.

    A good omen, perhaps...

How are Bradford not winning this first leg yet?!

This time Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila's scuffed shot rolls to Charlie Wyke, who should score... But Nathan Pond - yet again - gets in the block. That was a crucial intervention.

We're into the final 20 minutes.

If you asked me for a defining photo from the game so far, it would be this...

Will that change? Can someone go and put themselves on tomorrow's back pages?

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Millwall 0-0 Scunthorpe

The bookings are racking up at The Den - Shane Ferguson scythes down Neal Bishop around two seconds after the ball went.

Neither side can be criticised for a lack of determination and heart, but at the same time I don't think too many of the Championship managers watching will be too worried about what they've seen.

  20. SUBSTITUTION (Bradford)published at 21:13 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Bradford 0-0 Fleetwood

Now a first change for the hosts at Valley Parade, as Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila comes on for Billy Clarke up front.
