Sturridge showed a number of early warning signs that he would be a danger in that first half but West Ham just haven't shut him down well enough.

Oh I don't think anyone in the stadium can believe he missed that! 

How? What? Why? I have no idea how West Ham have not equalised.

Liverpool's defence plays musical statues when Manuel Lanzini swings in the corner, allowing the ball to nip through to Andre Ayew. 

The Hammers striker swivels on a six-pence to drill against the base of the post from about two yards, then reacts ahead of Daniel Sturridge to do exactly the same - kicking the ball against the base of the post while sat on the ground. Astonishing.

That is three headers from the last three set plays that Matip has won. Winston Reid is just not coping well with him and he is a big guy. 

Matip has been big, strong and quick and plays well with his feet too so he suits Liverpool down to the ground - he has been a great signing for Klopp. 

Confirmation that Philippe Coutinho has been playing in a slightly deeper position for Liverpool this afternoon.

But the Brazilian magician still managed to thread through an exquisite pass for Daniel Sturridge's opener, from the half-way line.

Pick him up! Joel Matip lurks into space again at a Liverpool corner. He's only 6ft 5in lads.

The Hammers not looking like they can grab a leveller before the break. They have not managed a shot at the Reds goal in the past 20 minutes. In fact they have only had one effort on target, that shot from Edimilson Fernandes earlier.

Coutinho and Sturridge have timed that beautifully. To pick him out and see him and play that ball is so, so good. 

But it is a poor goal to concede from West Ham's point of view. 

It puts Lierpool in a great position. West Ham will either sit back and be fine with 1-0 or they need to step up and take it to Liverpool.
