Arsene Wenger beats Jose Mourinho for the first time in a competitive fixture - that's two victories from 17 matches now, with the other win a Community Shield fixture.  

A simple handshake as the pair head down the tunnel. Arsenal deserve their win for that three-minute spell of destruction alone.

Pinball in the Arsenal box now as Scott McTominay fires on goal and Petr Cech collects comfortably. 

Wayne Rooney was just in front of him and might have got a telling touch but the Arsenal keeper read it well.

Aaron Ramsey's had a good game too. He picks Marcus Rashford's pocket as Arsenal break clear - Alexis Sanchez is in acres down the left wing. 

He cuts inside, but the clever pass inside for Mesut Ozil is just too long.

Kieran Gibbs has been impressive today. Here he is launching down the left again. Alexis Sanchez dinks a ball on the edge for Aaron Ramsey, but Wayne Rooney rises to nod clear.

Anthony Martial finds space down the left - the first we've seen of him really since way back in the first half. 

Laurent Koscielny is there to block the cross. Nothing doing. 

Marcus Rashford looks to play a quick free-kick into space but it's too long for the sole Manchester United runner who was on the same wavelength. 

Jose Mourinho applauds the effort, but surely realises the game is up.

The clock is ticking down and there is no sign of a late Manchester United surge.  

Six of Manchester United's nine shots have come from the boot of Wayne Rooney. Only two of them have been on target (as illustrated by the green arrows in our graphic below).

The Gunners are defending in numbers with just a couple left up the pitch for the turnover. And they're defending well.

I tell you who is frustrated. Wayne Rooney. Again he finds that square inch just above the top left corner of Petr Cech's goal with a curled effort from range. Not quite at the top of his game. It's been true for a while.

Nothing is going right for Manchester United now. There is clearly a lot of frustration out there.

Axel Tuanzebe has stood up well to Alexis Sanchez down the Arsenal left. The Chilean's been mostly contained.

Under pressure from Danny Welbeck, David de Gea mis-kicks a clearance out of play. Huge Arsenal cheers.

This has by no means been a vintage Manchester United performance. They were set up to contain and now look a little lost. 

You wouldn't call it a turning point for Arsenal but a defeat today would have been disastrous for their top four hopes. Maybe it will convince a few Gunners fans the cause is not lost. Maybe it'll even convince the players.

That's Granit Xhaka done. He's up and walking, but off the pitch as he's replaced by Francis Coquelin. Could be a precaution, could be tired legs, could be tactical. But it's like-for-like in defensive midfield.

Unlucky from Wayne Rooney. He picks it up on the edge of the box and looks to curl one top corner, but it's just arcing away at the last. 

Granit Xhaka is down and getting treatment, he's holding his ankle. 

Mesut Ozil's low drill across the box has the perfect amount of spin on it, sitting up and begging for Danny Welbeck to drive home first-time, but the Arsenal striker can't quite react in time.

Superb from Ozil. From languid to lethal like only he knows how.
