    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Arsene Wenger is 20 minutes away from a first competitive victory over Jose Mourinho.

I suspect if you've made your mind up about him that won't change things but still. He will be loving this.

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Marcus Rashford has space to collect and turn back to find another blue shirt as he runs to collect a ball over the top.

Much more pressure on the Arsenal back four from the away side now. But Axel Tuanzebe's called back for a clip on Granit Xhaka - the man whose deflected shot broke the deadest of deadlocks.

Paul Humphreys: Mourinho doesn't believe in this team. Negative defensive tactics against a poor arsenal side. Should have come to attack.

Luke: United are such a dire team to watch. Without De Gea they would be humiliated every game. No wonder he wants out again!

Laurent Koscielny is really untidy with a reaching challenge on Anthony Martial and goes in the book.

Juan Mata to take wide right - but the delivery is poor again.

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Petr Cech fends off a Wayne Rooney free-kick that was just creeping inside the near stick with a fingertip stop.

A good save - but does Cech feel he might have held it, as he picks himself up with a shake of the head?

Jesse Lingard's battling out there after coming on, he wins another Manchester United corner, but the Gunners see it to safety.

Ander Herrera has come off for Marcus Rashford - Jose Mourinho is going for it. He has an attacking team out there.

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made as many assists for Arsenal in the Premier League this season as in his previous five campaigns - seven.

His cross for Danny Welbeck was a beaut.

Resting players with Thursday in mind, or looking to transform the game?

Marcus Rashford definitely has the talent to turn things. He is on for Ander Herrera. Striker on, midfielder off.

    The Europa League can wait.

Well that escalated quickly. This was a pedestrian game going nowhere in particular. Two goals in three minutes from Arsenal put paid to all that.

    Football eh?!

Khael Malik: Why go in to block the ball if you're going to avoid it anyway?

Aron Moore: To be fair - as Sir Alex says - that could have killed Herrera.

Richard Browne: Own goal all day long ; that's going into DeGea's hands before Herrera finished it.

That's really poor defending in the middle of six-yard box by Manchester United.

Danny Welbeck is left completely unmarked because Chris Smalling thinks he is going to win the header further up and he totally misjudges it.

Welbeck doubles Arsenal's leadpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 7 May 2017

Danny Welbeck hammers in a fantastic header, in off the bar beyond David de Gea, from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's hanging cross from the right flank.

Brilliantly taken - that's just his second Premier League goal of the season. He rose so well, way above the men around him.

And that should sink his former club.

  15. 'Herrera turned his back and ducked'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 7 May 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Man United

Granit Xhaka had a lot of luck on his side there - that's what Arsenal needed. It looked like it was going miles over the crossbar.

Ander Herrera has turned his back and ducked, had he stayed big he would have taken one on the chin - but the ball wouldn't have gone in.

That will hopefully lift this game and wake both teams up.

Xhaka's slice of luckpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 7 May 2017

Granit Xhaka's got a long-distance bang in his locker but this one finds the net with a huge loopy slice of luck.

He hammers a shot towards goal on his left that crashes into the back of Ander Herrera, up into the sky, and down beyond the stricken reach of David de Gea.

So good today, with two fine stops, the Manchester United keeper is beaten by a hugely fortuitous goal.

It's the one the game really needed to come alive - and it could be vital for Arsenal in their quest for a top four spot.

It has been a scrappy start to the second half.

It is very flat again which I find remarkable considering what is at stake here. Either of these teams win and they are well in the hunt for the Champions League positions.

You would expect them to come out of the blocks, especially Arsenal.

It has been a disappointing start.

Axel Tuanzebe with a loose ball down the line, snatched up by Nacho Monreal.

And another one that goes astray from Tuanzebe, passed straight to an Arsenal shirt in the middle. But now he does well to settle the nerves with a strong challenge to bounce Alexis Sanchez away from goal. Good recovery from the 19-year-old debutant.
