    Chile 0-1 Germany

Chile's Arturo Vidal is left punching the ground in frustration after having a shot pushed over the top. It comes after Alexis Sanchez goes to ground in the penalty area after running into Sebastian Rudy.

Chile ask for the referee to have a second look at it.

He does, via the Video Assistant Referee, but it was never going to be a penalty. A complete waste of the referee's time there.

Excellent, throw-your-body-in-the-way defending from Germany's Sebastian Rudy, who dives to the ground to block Alexis Sanchez's goal-bound attempt. Proper defending that.

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty is not impressed with referee Milorad Mazic's decision to not send off Chile's Gonzalo Jara.

Alex Storey‏: What's the point of the VAR if it doesn't solve any problems but actually creates them? Red card all day long there.

    Chile 0-1 Germany

We will certainly be hearing about that decision if Germany don't win this match. It looked blatant, it looked nasty from Gonzalo Jara as he elbowed Timo Werner and it looked like it should have been a red card.

More controversy about the VAR system. The referee had a look at it on television, but came to the opinion it was only worth a yellow card, not a red.

    Chile 0-1 Germany

It was a cheap shot by Gonzalo Jara, catching Timo Werner with an elbow to the jaw as the ball was near the touchline.

The referee, after consultation with the video assistant referees, only shows a yellow to Jara, who is very, very, very lucky to still be on the field.

We could be having a moment of controversy here. Gonzalo Jara could be in trouble for elbowing Timo Werner.

The referee doesn't see it, but we go to the Video Assistant Referee.

Things are getting a bit feisty with some pushing and shoving going on.

In the end, Germany's Joshua Kimmich gets a yellow-card for shoving his Bayern Munich team-mate Arturo Vidal. Could make for a lively occasion when they next meet up in pre-season training.

The Germany free-kick by the way came to nothing, despite a fine delivery into the box by Jonas Hector, but Chile bundled the ball clear.

  11. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    Chile 0-1 Germany

Germany captain Julian Draxler leads by example as he storms through the Chile defence. He gets off a shot at goal from inside the penalty area, and only an excellent sliding challenge from Gonzalo Jara diverts the ball for a corner, which comes to nothing.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 53 mins

    Chile 0-1 Germany

Leonardo Valencia comes on for Chile only a few minutes into the second half. Marcelo Diaz, who will be haunted with his error that gifted Germany a goal, is the man withdrawn.

On the pitch, Chile's Alexis Sanchez tries to create something and goes on a purposeful run, but the move comes to nothing as his cross, aiming for the back post, drifts out of play.

    Chile 0-1 Germany

A bit of panic for Chile as the ball bounces off Leon Goretzka, who chases after it, but luckily for the South Americans, keeper Claudio Bravo is well positioned to dart out of his area to make sure it goes out of play.

It's a German jamboree at the top of the Golden Boot charts for the tournament.

Lars Stindl's goal moves him up to three, level with team-mates Timo Werner and Leon Goretzka.

I wonder if they'll have a little half-time wager on who will come out on top?
