'What on earth is the Emirates Cup?’, we hear you cry.

Let us explain.

The competition is hosted at Arsenal’s home ground every summer. Well, I say every summer. They didn’t have one last year as the pitch needed to be relayed but it's back with a bang for a ninth time.

It’s played over two days, between the Gunners and three visiting teams. This year it’s Benfica, RB Leipzig and Sevilla.

The normal points system is in place, but you also get an extra bonus point for every goal you score.

And in a quite remarkable turn of events, SHOTS ON TARGET could be used to decide the tournament winners if teams are level on points and goal difference.

What a time to be alive.

I’ve lost count of how many trophies have been given out this pre-season, so we may as well add another one to the list.
