Everton are fortunate that a cross is a tad high for Ante Erceg, because he was left in plenty of space to get his noggin to the ball. The height means he can only send the ball high and over the bar.

Gylfi flashes one wide!

Great work by Dominic Calvert-Lewin sees him beat his man down the left before sending over a cross that is headed away, but only to the edge of the box.

Sigurdsson, as he has done for Swansea so often, is on it in a flash to send a volley past the post.

Hamza Barry, like his namesake Gareth, appears to be adept at many things on a football pitch, but not shooting. He is fed the ball 25 yards out and sends it whistling into the stratosphere, clearing Jordan Pickford's goal by a fair old way.

Ajax are in real trouble now, trailing 1-0 in Rosenborg - 2-0 on aggregate. The scorer? Nicklas Bendtner.

Marseille lead Domzale 1-0, 2-1 on aggregate. Athletic Bilbao are now 4-2 up against Panathinaikos overall - 1-0 tonight.

Oh, a real chance for Wayne Rooney! He plays a superb ball into the right channel for Cuco Martina to latch on to and cross from the byeline. Rooney himself darts into the box but doesn't get a solid contact with his header and glances the effort wide.

He's better than that.

Hajduk go close.

Everton are stretched as the ball is swung from right to left to the feet of Ante Erceg. He has space and eyes his spot but pulls his shot wide of goal.

Good high pressing and working-rate from Rooney and Calvert-Lewin, who trap Hajduk back in their own half, cut off the route back to the keeper and force full-back Hysen Memolla to concede a throw. Ronald Koeman applauds.

Ambitious. Josip Radosevic trots up and attempts to beat Jordan Pickford with a free-kick from 40 yards. He doesn't even beat the wall.

You don't even need to be watching this to know which team is on the attack. The volume rises tell you all you need to know.

Everton are doing OK, though. Trying to take the sting out of the home team, dull their initial enthusiasm for the fight.

It is all Hajduk. A cross from the right is met by Ahmed Said in the box but he gets right underneath it and sends it into the Split night sky. Everton rally and clear.

Everton having to dig in a bit in these early stages. There are two fluffed efforts from Hajduk players in and around the box before Savvas Gentsoglou (wearing the number 90 shirt - big squad!) tumbles. Gylfi Sigurdsson was the nearest Everton man but I don't think he made much, if any, contact.

Ostersunds, managed by Englishman Graham Potter, have reached the Europa League group stages after a comeback victory.

The club, who were in the Swedish fourth tier when Potter took over in 2011, scored twice in the last 20 minutes tonight to beat PAOK Salonika 2-0 and go through on away goals.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv - who hired Steve McClaren as a coaching consultant this week - beat Rheindorf Altach 3-2 on aggregate (2-2 tonight).

Red Bull Salzburg beat Viitorul Constanta 4-0, 7-1 on aggregate. Dynamo Kiev, Viktoria Plzen, BATE Borisov and Sheriff Tiraspol also progress.

Offside flag to Everton's rescue!

Ante Erceg is through and dragged down by Jordan Pickford. Would have been a nailed on penalty and possibly a red card for the keeper. But the assistant thought Erceg was offside.

Not sure he was, though. A let off.

Gylfi swings in another set-piece, which is flicked away at the back post by a home head. Ref ahs blown, though, for some shoving from an Everton player.

They're not a quiet bunch, these Hajduk fans. Wayne Rooney is fouled on the right side of the box, drawing boos and whistles from the stands.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, on full debut, swings over the corner, which the home keeper slams out of the box with one fist. Muhamed Besic goes for an ambitious volley but fires wide.

Straight out of the blocks. Everton win an early corner...

And we are under way. Everton lead 2-0 from leg one remember.

I wouldn't want to be playing at the Stadion Poljud on a windy day. Both ends behind the goals are standless, repeat standless. Plenty of fans packed into the semi-oval shaped stands down either length of the pitch, though.

The teams are out. Kick-off in a matter of mere minutes...
