    Southampton

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse: "We started off very well but didn't quite carry on the dominance. We came thinking we could win the game and are disappointed we couldn't do that.

"We've improved at a lot of things this season but we need to improve our finishing. We created some good chances today but couldn't finish them off.

"European football is out target this season. There is no reason we cant get back there."

Gordon: I can never understand Everton tactics. Why does Rooney constantly stray back into defensive midfield? It's confusing.

Daniel: Everton haven’t paid over the odds for players; even Keane & Sigurdsson were market value. This is down to attitude.

Fi3ld: so why hasn't more been made of that blatant penalty exactly!? As stone wall as they come. In from behind didn't win the ball.

Vince Kenny: "That is Gray's goal without question. Shot which was on target and deflected by Kenny."

You related to Jonjoe by any chance, Vince?

    Leicester 2-0 Everton

We're just over 40 minutes into the Claude Puel era. Leicester have climbed from 15th to 11th in the table in that space of time. That's what you call a dream start by the Frenchman.

  8. Not an own goal!published at 38 mins

    Leicester 2-0 Everton

News from those good people at Opta. The Premier League have ruled that the Jonjoe Kenny's own goal was in fact a Demarai Gray goal.

I'm not sure that will make David Unsworth feel any better right now.

Everton's frustration is growing by the minute.

George Powell: For years we’ve been saying “just think what we could do with money”. Only Everton could spend £150m and be relegation fodder.

Unpronounceable Name: Vardy, Mahrez and Gray look like they're having a whale of a time out there, and no wonder. Everton shambolic again...

  13. goal

GOAL - Leicester 2-0 Evertonpublished at 28 mins

    Jonjoe Kenny (own goal)

It goes from bad to worse for Everton.

Demarai Gray is on fire and he is again involved as his shot - after cutting inside Tom Davies - is sliced into the net by Jonjoe Kenny.

Cruel on the youngster but no doubt about it - Leicester thoroughly deserve this.

Chance for Everton as Wayne Rooney's delicious pass finds Aaron Lennon inside the area but instead of shooting Lennon tries to tee-up Calvert-Lewin and the chance goes begging.

    Leicester 1-0 Everton

Claude Puel is a man of few words but he must be loving this. The crowd certainly is.

Leicester look a completely different side to the one that huffed and puffed in the closing stages of Craig Shakespeare's era.

    Leicester 1-0 Everton

    Everton are in trouble.

They're struggling to cope with Leicester's - in particular Gray's - electric pace.

Three of the Toffees' back four - Baines, Jagielka and Williams - have a combined age of 100.

Another chance for Leicester. This time Jordan Pickford saves from Mahrez.

deldude: Demarai Gray is on fire... wonderful run looked like hot knife slicing through butter. Superb finish by Vardy as well.

Jay Barnes: That was a simply devastating counter attack.

  19. goal

GOAL - Leicester 1-0 Evertonpublished at 17 mins

    Jamie Vardy

The Claude Puel era is up and running. And what a goal!

It comes after an Everton set-piece is easily cleared to Demarai Gray who bundles past Tom Davies before going past two more challenges and spotting Riyad Mahrez to cross for Jamie Vardy to finish from close range.

It's a counter attack straight off the training ground.
