West Ham boss Slaven Bilic to BT Sport: "[Big sigh] We started well for the first 20 minutes, exactly what we wanted but then we conceded two goals, very cheap.

"We tried to change the shape and be more open in the second half, we scored but they are so good on the counter attack. It is a big defeat for us.

"It's not a lack of effort. We should have defended better, it's no excuse to concede from your own corner kick. At this level if you are 2-0 down so early it's not game over but it's very difficult to come back.

"I have to talk to the chairman, we are going to discuss this defeat. It's not the first one, it's the second in a row in home. It is a very difficult situation for me.

"I always believe in myself, I wouldn't be here otherwise.

"[Do you still have the club's backing?] It's hard for me to talk about that now."

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic says he will talk to the chairman and discuss the defeat. "It is very difficult for me".

Doesn't sound too positive, that.

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to MOTD: "The result, it feels good. We changed our approach, it was a counter-attacking line-up to use our speed from a deep situation.

"It was brilliant play for the first goal.

"Our counter-attacking was pretty perfect, we had some wonderful play. Roberto Firmino, I'm not sure I've ever seen a player play a third game in the week with such intensity and I'm a few days in this business.

"3-0, 3-0, 4-1, it's a really good week. It's a good moment to have a little break. We lost our skipper overnight and Gini Wijnaldum did not have his boots here.

"We thought he had no chance of playing, we only brought him here so he is nearer to Amsterdam, he was flying there to see the doctor.

"And he played 90 minutes. Sadio Mane is a naturally fit player, he could have played the 90 minutes after just one training session."

Jurgen Klopp says Georginio Wijnaldum only travelled with the team to play as London is closer to Amsterdam, where he was going to visit a doctor.

The Dutchman did not even bring any boots.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah tells BT Sport: "We started the game very well and scored in the beginning which helped us to make the game easy. It's a good result in the end.

"I was confident to come to England again but I have to carry on."

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: "It was definitely not an easy game Mo! It was intense, especially when they made it 2-1. We defended well, they went long to Andy Carroll and we knew that on the counter we are a big threat. We proved that time and time again."

Ex-Liverpool defender Nick Tanner: "You can't argue with that performance. I think Jurgen Klopp is doing a great job and, of course, there will be tougher challenges ahead compared to today.

"West Ham lay down today and Liverpool wiped the floor with them. But that is three or four wins on the trot now and it is looking good and positive for Liverpool."

Even considering West Ham have four strikers on the field, with gaps inevitable at the back, Liverpool are carving them apart at will. Amazing it is only 4-1.
