    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

And that will be that from me.

Thank you for joining us as Mohamed Salah again shows Chelsea that they actually let a diamond slip away after just 19 appearances.

Liverpool remain fifth but close the gap on Tottenham in fourth and have now won three times in a row for the first time this year.

They have a big week ahead with matches against Sevilla and Chelsea.

Southampton will face off against Everton next Sunday in a scrap between two sides seemingly low on confidence.

    Be well my friends.

  2. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2017

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

A glut of high-fives break out on the Liverpool bench.

How do you sum that up? Impressive without ever being scintillating. A haul of 21 shots shows it was a dominant offering and in Mohamed Salah, they really do look like they have a difference maker.

Jurgen Klopp is on the pitch hugging his players. His smile is wide and his applause for the fans frantic.

    Job done.

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Since around the hour mark this game feels like it has almost exclusively been played in the Southampton half.

  4. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

As we enter the first of three added minutes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sets Liverpool away down the left but the cross into the box is cleared.

Roberto Firmino eyes glory from 35 yards but finds the top of the Kop with that one.

  5. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

The game continues to slowly fade away as Jordan Henderson squanders possession in midfield. James Milner wins a header and send Liverpool on their way to an attack. Roberto Firmino's reverse ball is neat but Georginio Wijnaldum's run is just a touch quick to pick it up in the area.

  6. Postpublished at 84 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

It is nearly four as Roberto Firmino's driving run and low left-footed strike from 20 yards is a fraction wide.

  7. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Liverpool in total control here now as Southampton go through the motions a little. Roberto Firmino has become the home sides' focal point up top and we will not be seeing Daniel Sturridge today as all three changes have been made.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

There will be no hat-trick today, Mohamed Salah departs, James Milner comes on.

A hug from Jurgen Klopp for Salah. He deserves that. If Jurgen hadn't been feeling unwell this week I'd argue he should give him his coat.

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

I think it's fair to say most Southampton fans will concede their side have not quite done enough here. They competed well for spells in the first half but you just got the sense that when Liverpool upped the pace at any point the away side may struggle.

The Reds have had 18 shots in all, with Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho each with five apiece.

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Sadio Mane gets an early finish, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on.

  11. Postpublished at 72 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Charlie Austin should be on the scoresheet. He has space to head James Ward-Prowse's in-swinging free-kick but it's over the bar.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

Thanks for the goal and all that Philippe but you're coming off now. Emre Can enters...

    Philippe Coutinho

    It has been coming.

The pressure built and built and this game is now done. Turn out the lights.

Sadio Mane with a neat ball in the area gives Roberto Firmino shooting space. His drive is only deflected back into the heart of the are by Fraser Forster and Philippe Coutino is arriving to hit it first time, low into the net.

    Simple stuff.

Philippe Coutinho floats in from the left and clips a lovely ball over the top. Mohamed Salah is after it but Wesley Hoedt has tracked his run and boots for a throw.

Liverpool have taken a grip of this in the last 10 minutes after a slow start to the second period. Emre Can is getting ready to come on too as his side win their ninth corner.

  15. CLOSE!published at 63 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Lovely link up play by the home side sees Sadio Mane feed an overlap from Alberto Moreno. He slides a cross along the face of goal and Roberto Firmino will finish... nope. Ryan Bertrand stabs for a corner. That would have been a tap in.

  16. CLOSE!published at 62 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Philippe Coutinho goes close. All his own work.

He gets on the ball, swaggers a little 30 yards out and then takes off towards goal. His right-foot shot from 18 yards is a foot wide.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 60 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Oriol Romeu oversteps what is allowable in the defensive midfield role as he tugs the shirt of Roberto Firmino.

  18. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Ryan Bertrand bursts into the area and can cross... blocked for a corner. Dejan Lovern heads the ball clear. For all his critics, he has been very good today.

The Reds will break. Mohamed Salah threads one for Alberto Moreno who has darted up on the counter... he's in... but he can't quite sort his feet as the ball was a tad behind him. Saints get away with it.

These are the stats from the opening five minutes of the second period, showing Southampton have seen much more ball. The game is beginning to show signs of breaking up as the pattern changes. Southampton are building more play with a more expansive shape, allowing Liverpool to break. On a few occasions already in the half the home side have had space to run into on the corner.

  20. CLOSE!published at 54 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Trent Alexander-Arnold gallops over the halfway line like a Grand National stallion and manages to find Roberto Firmino in the area. Fraser Forster rushes out at his feet and manages to save but that could have been number three.

Charlie Austin will be on shortly, Dusan Tadic to make way.
