Ominous signs for Stoke. Spurs have come flying out of the blocks. It's already looking like a long second half for the visitors.

Untidy Stoke defending from Tottenham's sixth corner gives Harry Kane a chance on the edge of the six-yard area. It's high and wide but it wouldn't have counted - the flag was up.

The good news for Stoke is that this game is not out of sight. Unlike the corresponding fixture last season when they were 4-0 down at half-time at White Hart Lane.

Stoke, who started the day 13th, are currently down to 15th - just three points above the relegation zone.

The second half is moments away.

This is not a classic. Far from it. But Tottenham have the half-time lead thanks to Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross.

It's vital Stoke don't concede a second before half-time.

The Potters have a rare attack after Christian Eriksen is robbed cheaply by Joe Allen but hi spass for Mame Biram Diouf runs all the way to Hugo Lloris.

You'd put your house on Harry Kane scoring from there.

It was Edwards who played the Spurs striker on-side, and it was a great run from Kane bursting through.

But credit to Jack Butland, who was straight off his line, distracting Kane and forcing him to shoot wide.

To be honest it's been all Tottenham and they should be 3-0 up already.

What. A. Miss.

Harry Kane usually puts these away with his eyes closed. Not this time.

It's a delicious pass by Son which sends him clean through with only Jack Butland to beat but he somehow puts it wide.

Harry Kane's just had his first real opening. Tottenham need him to push up and stretch the Stoke defence, because so far he's been playing too deep.

The England man flashes a header narrowly wide but it wouldn't have counted due to an offside flag.

It gets Mauricio Pochettino out of his seat and the Spurs boss is pacing the technical area.

A succession of corners for Spurs. Stoke are defending for their lives.

Jack Butland has to deal with a 25 yard attempt by Mousa Dembele which bounces awkwardly in front of the keeper.

After a bright start, Stoke are now camped inside their own area trying to prevent Spurs from adding a second goal before half-time.

Christian Eriksen steps up to place it over the red and white wall but Jack Butland is down to palm it away.

That goal has certainly settled Spurs down. They're looking a lot sharper and Son is causing havoc with his powerful runs.

The South Korean is denied by the legs of Butland when a pass to Christian Eriksen would almost certainly have led to a second goal.

That goal was coming. A really good cross into the Stoke box and the deflection up gave Ryan Shawcross no chance at all to clear the ball.

Instead it deflected off him straight into the back of the net.
