Yedlin loops the ball into the box in last-gasp attempt at glory, but Mat Ryan, fittingly, claims it and sees his side to safety.

There's a bit of pinball in the Brighton box as Shelvey volleys the ball in, but the Brighton defence have stood firm all afternoon.

Atsu races in on goal and strikes from outside the box - but his effort skews horribly off his left foot and shapes towards the corner flag.

It's mostly Newcastle now, but they cannot hang on to the ball when the key moments come, and Brighton 'keeper Mat Ryan has little to worry about in the last few minutes.

Murphy stretches to get to a long pass out on the right wing, but slips over and loses control.

"Attack, attack, attack" is the shout from the stands, but Shelvey's latest effort, a looping cross from the left, goes over everyone.

After a spell of Brighton pressure, Newcastle break out but the attack ends when Perez is crowded out on the right hand side. Brighton are getting everyone behind the ball now, they will be happier with a point from this.

Merino loses his balance in the area, and does not get the penalty he felt was coming his way.

It's his last contribution - Jonjo Shelvey trots on in his place.

Darlow collects a high ball, but when he delays his release the Newcastle fans let him know in no uncertain terms that they think he should get on with it. Remember, they've not seen a home win since 21 October.

Duffy heads the corner back across goal, Dunk meets it with his forehead to send it towards the centre of the goal but Darlow makes ground to his right to palm it away!

Brighton win another corner through March, although it looked like he could have handled the ball in the build-up.

Knockaert forces his way in between Dummett and Atsu, but Dummett recovers to shove the Brighton man off the ball and clear from the left-hand edge of the area.

Murray is off, and Brighton bring on Tomer Hamed - who scored the winner between these two earlier this term.
