So we have an early 'top of the table' clash to look forward to next Saturday, with champions Celtic hosting St Johnstone with both sides boasting 100% records.

Aberdeen, also three from three, travel to face Partick Thistle, one of three sides yet to get a point on the board.

Kilmarnock, in the same boat as Thistle, have a fourth home game in a row, but Rugby Park has hardly brought them much comfort so far, with three straight defeats.

The other Saturday game sees Motherwell host Hearts - away from home for a fourth week in a row while Tynecastle undergoes redevelopment - while Sunday's two games see currently pointless Dundee play Hibs and Ross County entertain Rangers.

Before all that though, Celtic take a 5-0 lead to Kazakhstan as they aim to seal their passage to the Champions League group stages on Tuesday away to Astana. That one kicks off at 16:30 BST by the way.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes admitted his side were a touch fortunate to preserve their 100% league record with victory over Dundee.

"It wasn't our normal flow and we didn't have the normal control we're used to have at Pittodrie," he told BBC Scotland. "There were some spells of the game I didn't particularly enjoy but I enjoyed winning.

"Dundee showed they're a good team. We needed to show more confidence to go and work them and ask questions. Ultimately it's about taking your chances, and it's a hell of a strike from Stevie May. He's already proved his worth. He's a fantastic player capable of big moments.

"I think Dundee will probably go back down the road feeling aggrieved they didn't get something from the game and I can understand that."

While Neil Lennon reflects on a first league defeat of the season, his Hamilton counterpart Martin Canning is revelling in a three-goal victory for the second time in eight days, after beating Dundee 3-0 last Saturday.

"Last week we were a bit defensively naive, but I thought we came here and defended really well," he told BBC Scotland.

"Scott McMann is getting better week by week and everyone was excellent to a man today. The second half was excellent and it was a really top performance."

Hibs manager Neil Lennon admitted his side were off the pace physically and mentally as they suffered a surprise 3-1 home defeat by Hamilton.

"I thought in the first half we were OK without being anywhere near the level which we can play at," he told BBC Scotland. "In the second half we were very, very flat. We looked very tired at the end, but that is mental, rather than physical.

"But the better team won today. Their second goal was farcical from our point of view and sometimes you can't legislate for mistakes like that. But they scored a great third goal and sometimes you have to doff your cap.

"We have had a brilliant start to the season, and a lot of nice things about us, so this is a bit of a reality check. We have no right to win any game here. These are Premier League teams, they are streetwise and have some quality players, and Hamilton certainly deserved to win today."

Hearts interim head coach Jon Daly appeared to take a swipe at predecessor Ian Cathro after his side's 0-0 draw with Rangers, saying he believes his side are lacking in fitness.

Daly told BBC Scotland: "It was satistfying in terms of the result, to come to Ibrox and get a clean sheet. We need to get the players a little bit fitter, and then we give ourselves a better chance when we come to places at Ibrox.

"As a club we probably could have done more with them (in pre-season), but obviously the manager was trying to implement the 3-4-3 system at the time and make sure he had that covered. But from my point of view the fitness levels are off where I would want them to be.

"We had a couple of opportunities. We lacked a bit of composure, but I can't fault the work rate and effort of the players.

"I don't think we did enough to win the game but I don't think we deserved to lose it. We forced them into the areas where we were quite comfortable. Apart from one save from Kenny Miller, I don't remember our goalkeeper Jack Hamilton having a lot to do."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is understandably a happy man after his side's third straight Premiership win to start the season - a first for the club. Next Saturday they travel to Celtic to meet the champions, both boasting a 100% record.

"We are still the last team to beat them domestically, albeit under a different manager," he told BBC Scotland. "At the start of the season, if you had told me we would be going to Celtic Park for a top-of-the-table clash, I would have taken that. We will go there and try to cause an upset.

"It was a really good team goal today and a really cool finish from Micahel (O'Halloran). While it was only 1-0 you always have a bit of concern but we defended the long balls into our box and thoroughly deserved our victory today."

It took until 10 minutes from the end to break down Brechin City, but Ray McKinnon's Dundee United - favourites for promotion back to the Premiership - belatedly got their third straight win courtesy of Scott McDonald's late winner.

Dunfermline remain in second place, two points adrift, after an eventful game at East End Park, where Joe Cardle's second goal in the last minute killed off nine-man Falkirk, who earlier had Craig Sibbald and Lee Miller sent off.

Queen of the South moved into third with a 1-0 home win over Dumbarton, while St Mirren won 3-1 at Livingston to end the hosts' 24-match unbeaten run stretching back to March.

Inverness remain bottom, but at least Caley got their first point of the season with a 1-1 home draw with Greenock Morton.

So maybe Celtic won't have it all their own way this season...not just yet anyway.

They may be back on top, on goal difference, after their 2-0 win earlier at Kilmarnock.

But St Johnstone have created a spot of club history with a third win from three at the start of a Premiership season for the first time, beating Partick Thistle 1-0 in Perth thanks to Michael O'Halloran's fourth goal of the campaign.

And Aberdeen, runners-up for the last three seasons, have maintained their own 100% record, new arrival Stevie May scoring twice in a 2-1 home win over Dundee.

The other team with a 100% record at the start of the day, Hibernian, had a reality check with a 3-1 home defeat by Hamilton, who enjoyed a second straight win.

Dundee remain bottom, still searching for their first points of the season, along with Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.
