Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "You have to fight for every single point. You could see today that Crystal Palace were good.

"They created chances in the first half and pressed higher in the second but in general we controlled the game.

"We could have scored another goal but playing here is really difficult.

On Virgil van Dijk: "It's important to re-integrate him. He is playing well and everything is normal now.

"He will continue playing, training and increasing his quality. We need everybody including Virgil.

"Everybody is fighting to bring in the best players in the world and for me, Virgil is one of these."

Where Philippe Coutinho plays today will be very interesting. He might play behind the front three and it's a big afternoon for him.

He needs to show fans, players and the whole club that he is serious. If he shows some rustiness then the fans might give him a hard time.

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to BBC's Match of the Day: "It was the worst possible start conceding the goal so early. The team were nervous and anxious already.

"We were perhaps a bit cautious and the midfield players dropped too deep and gave them time on the ball, while the full-backs were covering too much.

"I thought in the second-half we got up to the ball better. The desire was there but unfortunately it was a frantic desire. Not one when you're in control.

"I'm learning all the time. Ther ewas a lot of heart out there. People care, they want to do better. We have to mould ourselves into a better football team.

"We have to be certain we are able to take on teams like Southampton which we weren't able to do today.

"The confidence only comes when you start to play well and your work stars to pay off in terms of results."

Rafael Benitez is unbeaten in all five Premier League fixtures as a manager against Stoke, winning two and conceding only one goal.

Things are starting to look a great deal brighter for Newcastle.

Prior to their last home game against West Ham, their fans' overwhelming assessment was that they were in need of both points and new recruits in equal measures.

With no new additions, the two wins since have at least indicated that the players they do have available are adjusting to life in the top flight.

With officially the youngest line-up in the Premier League, a successful season of consolidation could point to an encouraging future.

In their 10th successive campaign among the elite, Stoke know exactly the demands of this unforgiving division and - having emerged from three tough games unbeaten - will test the Magpies' new-found optimism.

Not a sight you would normally expect to see inside a ground but reassuring all the same.

These two have been high fiving fans as they patrol the perimeter of the pitch here at Huddersfield pre-match.

Chased them down to the corner flag before getting them to stop for this pic. They've definitely got that hard look about them despite the smiles.

At the bottom, Plymouth make the long trip to Bury. Both sides have won only once this season.

In League Two, leaders Exeter host Crewe as they look for their seventh win in eight outings.

Leaders Leeds will look to extend their unbeaten start to the Championship season with a trip to Millwall.

Cardiff are only a point off the top and are looking to bounce back from their defeat by Preston - their first loss of the season - against Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Steve Bruce really needs a positive result from Aston Villa's trip to Barnsley. Villa are 18th in the table, with seven points from seven games and Bruce has come in for a lot of criticism this week.

Bolton are bottom of the pile but received some good news this week - their transfer embargo has been lifted. However, they've got a tough game against Mick McCarthy's Ipswich this afternoon.

    Liverpool v Burnley (15:00 BST)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking about making seven changes for today's game: "It was about the intensity of the games and the quality of the squad. There’s no doubt that the line-up we found today is a very strong one. It’s a good situation.

“I told the boys already, this is a wonderful line-up but we shouldn’t rely on this. It’s all about finding the right attitude.

"I know the boys are ready to work but we also need to be ready not to get frustrated if different situations don’t come through, and not lose confidence because this or that doesn’t work. We need to enjoy the job, because that’s what Burnley are doing.”

MOTD commentator Stuart Gardner: "David Wagner was openly critical of his Huddersfield team for their conservative performance in Monday's defeat at West Ham. But it's still been a hugely positive start to life in the Premier League for the Terriers.

"And they'll be glad to be back at the John Smith's Stadium, where they are yet to concede a goal.

"Leicester have already lost as many games this season as they did in their title-winning campaign but their fixture list has been less than kind - after defeats against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, Craig Shakespeare will hope a gentler run of games will yield much-needed points."

It was a year ago this weekend that West Brom beat West Ham 4-2 at The Hawthorns, with the Hammers in the midst of a disappointing start to the season.

In some ways, not much has changed. Monday's much-needed win over Huddersfield was West Ham's first of the campaign and Slaven Bilic admitted afterwards that Frank de Boer's sacking had been on his mind.

No such anxiety for Tony Pulis, whose team have made a solid start.

One landmark of note - Albion's Gareth Barry will equal Ryan Giggs' all time record of 632 Premier League appearances this weekend. He will also become the first player to make 600 starts in the Premier League.

It's fourth versus second in the Premier League, with the early table only indicative of how well Watford have started under Marco Silva.

Now their biggest test - against a side that's scored nine times without reply in their last two games, won 5-0 at Vicarage Road to end last season, and about whom Pep Guardiola says after almost every match "we have to improve"!!, external

A well-rested Watford will hope for post-Feyenoord fatigue from City, and an end to a defensive jinx that's seen Silva unable to field the same backline for successive games.

The Hornets last beat City in the top flight in April 1987. Sterling scored. Worrell Sterling.
