What a comprehensive way for Chelsea to start the season!

They proved far too good for Bristol City in the end, with four goals in the second half.

This was Chelsea's fourth of the afternoon, scored by Sweden international Magdalena Eriksson.

    Gilly Flaherty

Gilly Flaherty isn't going to miss those.

Magdalena Eriksson's free-kick is flicked on and Sophie Baggaley can only palm it to Flaherty, who taps in from almost on the goal-line.

The goal came moments after Eni Aluko also drew a save from Baggaley on the counter-attack.

Lauren Hemp has been Bristol City's biggest threat this afternoon and she shows great strength again as she battles with the Chelsea defence.

She's reluctant to shoot on her right foot and instead tees up Carla Humphrey, whose shot is straight at Hedvig Lindahl.

Another change for Bristol City as teenager Lily Woodham comes on in place of Belgium international Yana Daniels.

According to Wales' Helen Ward, who is summarising on this game on our live stream, Woodham has "frightening" ability. Sounds like a talent.

Finally Chelsea have their fourth, and it's a goal on debut for Magdalena Eriksson as the midfielder heads in a corner from close range.

The Sweden international won the set-piece initially as her shot from the edge of the box was deflected wide.

So close to 4-0 for Chelsea!

Karen Carney's corner picks out the unmarked Gilly Flaherty, whose header looks destined to loop in before Sophie Baggaley leaps to tip it over the bar.

Fabulous save from the young keeper, who is on loan from Birmingham City Ladies.

How did Chelsea not score there?

Ji So Yun collects Gemma Davison's cross and turns and twists the Bristol City defence this way and that.

For some reason, she doesn't shoot and instead tries to tee up Maren Mjelde but the ball runs away from the midfielder.

Chances have been few and far between for Bristol City but that was one.

Chelsea are caught out by a huge clearance from Sophie Baggaley and Lauren Hemp races away.

She tries to clip the ball past Hedvig Lindahl with her left foot but the effort lacks the power to trouble the Blues goalkeeper.

This could be a long final half an hour or so for Bristol City.

To be fair to the visitors, they've tried to keep playing but they've lacked a real cutting edge.

    Maren Mjelde

    Brilliant, brilliant goal from Chelsea.

Gemma Davison is at the heart of the move and her cross to the far post is met with a cushioned header by Karen Carney into the path of the onrushing Maren Mjelde.

The defensive midfielder touches the ball on with her knee to escape the Bristol City defence before slotting the ball home.

    That was a tremendous move.

Chelsea fancy a third here as first Maria Thorisdottir and then Drew Spence send crosses flashing across the Bristol City six-yard box.

They were both enticing deliveries and only needed a touch. A let off for the visitors.
