That picture just about sums up the last 15 minutes - two Izzy Christiansen penalties help Man City come from behind to beat Birmingham, who had captain Kerys Harrop sent off.

We're done for now - Man City are top, but Chelsea are set to usurp them as they lead Yeovil.

    Cheerio!

    Man City 3-1 Birmingham

That was quite a last 15 minutes or so!

It looked remarkably unlikely at one stage, but Man City have come from behind to beat Birmingham in dramatic style.

Izzy Christiansen's penalty levelled matters and Kerys Harrop's sending off did not help Birmingham's cause.

Jennifer Beattie nodded home Megan Campbell's mammoth long throw and another Christiansen penalty sealed it to preserve the hosts perfect start to the WSL 1 season.

    Same player, same result.

Izzy Christiansen finds the top corner with her penalty - against her old club.

That seals it for Man City.

  4. PENALTY to Man Citypublished at 90+8 mins

    Man City 2-1 Birmingham

A second penalty for the hosts!

Hayley Ladd misses her kick and Ann-Katrin Berger takes down Man City's Georgia Stanway.

    Man City 2-1 Birmingham

The hosts continue to use Megan Campbell's long throw, and Birmingham are struggling to respond with just 10 players on the field.

We have just under two minutes to play.

  6. WATCH: Birmingham captain Harrop is sent offpublished at 90+4 mins

    Man City 2-1 Birmingham

Kerys Harrop tries to argue her case after being shown the red card by referee Helen Byrne.

But, I don't really know why, it's a moment of stupidity from the 26-year-old and it looks like it's going to cost her side a deserved point.

GOAL: Man City 2-1 Birminghampublished at 90+1 mins

    Jennifer Beattie

Megan Campbell's long throw has done the business!

She was brought on to use it, and Jennifer Beattie gets her head on the end of it and diverts the ball into the Birmingham net.

Seven minutes of stoppage time were added due to Ann-Katrin Berger's injury, but we've already played two of those minutes.

    Man City 1-1 Birmingham

A stretcher is brought onto the pitch but Ann-Katrin Berger doesn't need it.

She's a tough cookie and will carry on for these closing few minutes - can Man City give her some work to do?

  9. Postpublished at 88 mins

    Man City 1-1 Birmingham

We have a break in play as Birmingham goalie Ann-Katrin Berger is down with a head or neck problem, following a collision while claiming a Man City cross.

It was brave and commanding of the German to take the ball in a congested area, and her chances of continuing don't look too great.

  10. WATCH: Christiansen equalises from the penalty spotpublished at 87 mins

    Man City 1-1 Birmingham

Man City have been far from their fluid best today, but Izzy Christiansen's coolly dispatched penalty has given them a chance to go on and claim all three points.

Will they snatch a late winner?

  11. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Man City 1-1 Birmingham

The game has calmed down slightly, but all of a sudden Man City have the chance to win an unlikely three points.

Birmingham are taking no chances at the back, and have around six minutes to hold out with 10 players.

  12. RED CARDpublished at 79 mins

    Man City 1-1 Birmingham

The Birmingham captain has been given her marching orders!

The ball has gone after a challenge and Kerys Harrop appears to kick out at a Man City player. It's a straight red card.

Stupidity from the 26-year-old skipper and it could cost her team a deserved point.

  13. goal

GOAL: Man City 1-1 Birminghampublished at 77 mins

    Izzy Christiansen (pen)

The spot kick is perfectly dispatched by Izzy Christiansen, who sends Ann-Katrin Berger the wrong way.

It was Birmingham's Paige Williams who conceded the penalty - she tried to dispossess Nikita Parris but got it all wrong.

All to play for now with around 15 minutes left.

  14. PENALTY to Man Citypublished at 76 mins

    Man City 0-1 Birmingham

A long ball forward and a mistimed challenge on Nikita Parris...

  15. Postpublished at 76 mins

    Man City 0-1 Birmingham

Jill Scott is the latest Man City player to try her luck, but drags her shot several yards wide from an angle inside the Birmingham box.

The visitors have also made their first change, with Freda Ayisi on for Rachel Williams.

Would this Birmingham's best result under Marc Skinner, if they can hold on?

    Nikita ParrisImage source, Rex Features

    That was almost something special.

Man City's Izzy Christiansen plays a cross-field forward ball that Paul Scholes would be proud of but Nikita Parris, now operating as the central striker, is unable to find a team-mate in the middle.

    Much better from the hosts.

I think they're doing well at managing the game here, Birmingham.

The Man City changes are giving them a chance to have a chat about how they're going to stay in the lead.

Birmingham have done a job defensively here today, which has been brilliant.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Man City 0-1 Birmingham

We're into the last 25 minutes here, and Man City roll the dice yet again.

Georgia Stanway comes on for winger Melissa Lawley as the hosts try to gain some impetus in this match.

Birmingham don't look like conceding any time soon, but we know how quickly that could change.

    Man City 0-1 Birmingham

The first shot on target from Man City that I can remember.

Jill Scott lays the ball off to Izzy Christiansen in the box but it's straight at Birmingham keeper Ann-Katrin Berger, who holds onto the ball.
