Bristol City excepted, it's not been the season so far for teams beginning with 'B' in the Championship.

Burton and Birmingham are two of four clubs beginning with the second letter of the alphabet to find themselves in the bottom six and have managed just four league wins between them so far this term.

They both go into tonight's games on the back of hammerings, with Blues thrashed 6-1 at Hull before the international break, while the Brewers lost successive home games 4-0 to Aston Villa and Wolves.

What a start it's been to the season for the Championship's two most westerly clubs.

Cardiff, who finished 12th last season, are making the most of Neil Warnock's managerial experience to sit top of the table, with Preston the only side to overcome the Bluebirds so far.

But Bristol City have been no less impressive and can go second with a win over Burton tonight.

The Robins are unbeaten in 11 in league and cup and saw boss Lee Johnson and defender Aden Flint scoop the manager and the player of the month awards for September.

They've also only lost twice since being thumped 5-0 at Preston on 4 April - both to Birmingham.

Fear not, live text readers. Domestic football is back after what felt more like two years than two weeks of the international break.

Cardiff City fans, so what if Wales haven't qualified for next year's World Cup? The Neil Warnock-charged promotion push is very much on track as the Championship leaders travel to strugglers Birmingham City.

Blues, under new manager Steve Cotterill, will be looking to reverse their poor form this season, which has left them battling at the wrong end of the Championship table.

Elsewhere, in-form Bristol City take on out-of-form Burton Albion as both sides chase what would be a valuable three points indeed - and for different reasons.

It's good to be back. Kick-off is coming soon.
