Derby County kept up their pursuit of the top six with a 2-0 win at home to 10-man Sheffield Wednesday.

But Rams boss Gary Rowett was far from satisfied that his side missed plenty of chances to kill the game off before Bradley Johnson wrapped up all three points.

"We made a fast start, but I found myself focusing on the negatives with my players at half-time and at full-time," he told BBC Radio Derby.

"We weren't good enough, we didn't move the ball with enough quality from side-to-side to open up a side as good as Sheffield Wednesday.

"They created too many chances for my liking and we didn't possess the quality in the final third."

    FT: Sheffield United 2-1 Reading

    Jaap StamImage source, Empics

Reading failed to build on their away win at Leeds last weekend as third-placed Sheffield United sent them to a sixth defeat of the season at Bramall Lane.

Roy Beerens' late consolation in a 2-1 defeat did little to hide Jaap Stam's frustrations at full-time.

"In the second half we were very poor, we didn't do what we wanted to do," he told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"The accuracy in our passing was not good enough and we gave balls away. You need to change things, and we need to do better.

"You always talk about the basic things and what you need to do and bring to the game."

There we have it. Straight after the whistle, Steve Morison bursts forward down the right-hand side through some weak defending.

He squares, looking for Aiden O'Brien, but Birmingham right-back Maxime Colin spares him a job, tapping into his own net from a few yards.

  12. Reaction: Parkinson frustrated by wet and windy afternoonpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    FT: Bolton 1-1 QPR

Bolton were denied a second win in as many matches as Darren Pratley's goal was cancelled out by Idrissa Sylla's equaliser for QPR in a 1-1 draw.

The wind and rain from Storm Brian caused both sides problems at the Macron Stadium as the Trotters missed the chance to narrow their deficit at the foot of the Championship.

"In the second half we found it difficult to get any quality to take us up the pitch," boss Phil Parkinson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"A scruffy goal has got them back into it, but from where we were before these past two games, we'll take the four points from six."

And this is the table as it stands at the bottom.

Birmingham will be outside the bottom three whatever happens at The Den, but a win would lift them up to 17th.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    Millwall 0-0 Birmingham City

Isaac Vassell's late chance has been just about it. Lee Gregory and Steve Morison had a few sights of goal, but Millwall have nothing to show for their dominance.

The stats tell me there's been 11 shots, but just one on target. Let us hope the second half is better.
