And that is where we'll wrap things up for tonight here in the Championship.

Two very impressive wins for Aston Villa and Brentford as their respective seasons continue to pick up momentum.

As mentioned though, little time to wait until they're both next back in action on Saturday.

But, of course we'll be here Friday for Wolves v Fulham at Molineux. Until then, thanks for being with us.

It took Wolves until 11 March to register their 10th league victory last season. This time around, Willy Boly and his Wanderers team-mates managed to reach that tally by the end of October.

They will extend their lead at the top of the Championship to four points if they beat Fulham at Molineux on Friday.

Keinan Davis is named Aston Villa's man of the match and collects his award from captain John Terry.

A nice moment for the young man who not that long ago was plying his trade at non-league Biggleswade Town.

Aston Villa will be very pleased with how that's gone tonight. Brentford will also be smiling on their journey back south this evening after beating Birmingham.

    Birmingham City 0-2 Brentford

All over at St Andrew's too, and it's job done for Brentford.

Second-half goals from Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay extend the Bees' unbeaten run in the Championship to eight matches.

Blues remain 21st and two points clear of the relegation zone.

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

Whistle goes at Deepdale and Villa are heading up to fifth after that clinical display.

Just the one defeat in 12 league games now for Steve Bruce's side. Concerns mount a touch for Preston after a third defeat in a row.

  6. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2017

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

Four minutes being added on at the end of the 90 at Deepdale.

I think we know how this one ends.

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

Last change for Villa with just over two minutes left as second goalscorer Robert Snodgrass makes way for Ritchie de Laet.

Another warm round of applause from Villa's travelling support for one of their match winners.

Last five minutes at Deepdale. Have Preston got anything left in the tank to make this an interesting finish?

As Stevie Wonder once sang, the points are signed, sealed and delivered for Brentford.

Neal Maupay gets their second with a shot which creeps in at the near post.

Blues will be staying only two points clear of the relegation zone.

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

Preston appeal in vain for a penalty for a second time tonight and again it's Sean Maguire going down in the area.

Didn't look like John Terry was anywhere near making contact on that occasion with the Preston player and frustration continues for the hosts.

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

It should really be 3-0 to Villa and Albert Adomah will wonder how he didn't make it so.

Villa surge forward on the break and have a two on one on the edge of Preston's area.

Rather than going for goal himself, Conor Hourihane squares to Adomah but he goes for placement rather than power and lifts it too high over goal and on to the roof of the Preston net.

    Ollie Watkins pen (74 mins)

    Brentford break the deadlock!

Michael Morrison brought down substitute Neal Maupay in the box as he tried to get a shot away and Ollie Watkins slides the penalty into the corner.

Preston North End 0-2 Aston Villa

This is all very routine for Villa as we enter the last 20 minutes. Scott Hogan comes on for Keinan Davis up front.

A great reception from the travelling fans for Davis' display.

And Brentford almost take the lead!

Ollie Watkins is denied by a Michael Morrison block, which sends his shot wide. Can't believe that plea for a goal almost worked...

Villa's efficient display so far owes a lot to this man and all his experience.

John Terry once again shows his nous at the back as he races out to snuff out a half-chance for Jordan Hugill to shoot from the edge of the box for Preston.

It had all gone a bit quiet at Deepdale until Villa striker Keinan Davis connected with Preston defender Andrew Boyle in the air.

Players crowd round the Villa man as Boyle goes to ground but the referee opts to show him just a yellow.
