WS66: Shakespeare sacked...?! Much ado about nothing I suspect.

Matt Pell: Not all Shakey's fault. Behind closed doors, from top to bottom is rotten. Recruitment has been shambolic. Champions to chumps.

Sean Bravery: Are the owners unaware of how Leicester have done over recent years, bar 'that' season ? They are not a top 6 team, not even a top half one.

    Leicester sack Shakespeare

Claudio Ranieri guided Leicester City to the Premier League title in the 2015-16 season, despite the club being written off as 5,000-1 no-hopers by bookmakers at the start of that season.

However, the next season did not go well for the Foxes with Ranieri sacked on 23 February, 2017 with the club 17th in the table.

Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare took control for the rest of that season and guided them to a 12th-placed finish before getting the job on a permanent basis.

He signed a three-year deal on 8 June but has been sacked just over four months later.

Michael O'Neill was feeling pretty chipper after his Norther Ireland side were drawn against Switzerland, with the first leg at home.

The Swiss were the top-ranked team and won all nine of their World Cup qualifiers before running into Portugal in their final game, when the Euro 2016 champions' 2-0 victory saw them take Group B's top spot.

The countries have met five times, with Northern Ireland winning two and losing one.

"It was going to be tough whoever we got but we're capable of going through to the finals," said O'Neill.

"Switzerland had a good campaign, but we have a big opportunity to get to Russia."

Mourinho is asked if he has a message for the Portuguese people who have been caught up in the devastating wild fires which have spread over the country.

"It's difficult to accept and live with this," said Mourinho, who was born and managed in Portugal.

"What words can I add to the Portuguese people? The only thing I could say is that if I could exchange a football match result for the lives of people, and the terrible things that are happening, I would.

"Football loses meaning when things like this are happening. My deepest thoughts are with the people who have lost their lives and I send my strength to the people who are still struggling."
