  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United's Mark Duffy is livid.

He gets past two Burton players and goes down under a challenge from the third.

Was it a penalty? I'd probably agree with the referee and say no.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

We have 25 minutes left and it's time for the first tactical change of the evening.

Nigel Clough is the first boss to roll the dice - Burton bring on Sean Scannell for Jamie Allen.

  3. Postpublished at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

An hour gone at Deepdale, and no real sign of a goal from either side.

It's been close match with few proper openings.

Bolton's Karl Henry just well miles over the bar from the edge of the area. It's been that kind of night.

  4. Postpublished at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

To be fair to Burton, they're giving this a good go now.

From a corner Matty Lund lets fly but his shot is blocked by Blades centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers.

We've seen some goals but we've also witnessing some real bodies-on-the-line defending.

Is Chris Coleman the right man for Sunderland?

Vincenzo Re: At Wales he could have left a good legacy but at Sunderland it is chaotic and destined for more misery.

Chris Henry: Coleman is much better than anyone we could have expected, to have taken the job he’ll have been promised some funds at least in January, if not he’s a mug.

Jonny Reece: Chris Coleman has disappointed here. The other day he was talking about Champions League football, at Sunderland it's barely the Championship. Let's hope Wales find a manager excited by the talent coming through.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

Bolton forward Sammy Ameobi gets shown a yellow card for hacking down Callum Robinson about 30 yards from goal.

A cynical challenge and a deserved booking.

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

A nice touch from the travelling Sheffield United fans, who want to let Paul Coutts know that he has their full support.

The Blades midfielder was stretchered off just before the interval after what looked like a nasty injury.

On the pitch, Burton's Stephen Warnock makes a heroic last-ditch block to deny Mark Duffy.

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

Preston have dropped from the play-off places to 14th in the table over the course of their four-match losing streak.

Lilywhites boss Alex Neil will be keen to see that run come to an end.

The first real action of the second half sees Bolton forward Sammy Ameobi skew a shots miles wide from about 30 yards out.

They're back up and running at the Pirelli Stadium.

What has Nigel Clough said to his players - can they peg back Sheffield United again?

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

The second half is under way at Deepdale.

Can either side find a breakthrough and take all three points?

Preston created more openings in what was a tight first 45 minutes.

The Chris Coleman to Sunderland news is exciting, but we have some live Championship football to return to.

Is Chris Coleman the right man for Sunderland?

The breaking news this evening is that Chris Coleman has left his job with Wales to take over at Championship club Sunderland.

We're asking you if he's a good fit for the Black Cats, but a better question might be whether Coleman is making the right move himself?

Dave Butcher: Madness from Coleman, please say it isn't true.

We're afraid it is, Dave - all thoughts are welcome using #bbcefl

    Saturday's Championship action

    SunderlandImage source, Rex Features

This is just the start as far as this weekend's Championship fixtures are concerned, as there are nine more matches tomorrow afternoon.

Sunderland's game at home to Millwall stands out - though prospective boss Chris Coleman is unlikely to take charge of the Black Cats - while underachieving Fulham host Derby in the late kick-off.

High-flying trio Wolves, Cardiff and Bristol City are also all in action - it's like the international break never happened!

Tonight's breaking Championship news is that Chris Coleman has left his job with Wales to take over at Championship club Sunderland.

Coleman will succeed Simon Grayson, who was sacked after 18 games in charge.

Sunderland are aiming to confirm a deal with Coleman by Sunday, meaning they are set to remain managerless for their game at home to Millwall tomorrow.

There was nothing wrong with the 45 minutes we've just seen at the Pirelli Stadium and Deepdale, but tonight's Championship action has been somewhat overshadowed by events at Sunderland...

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

    Billy SharpImage source, Rex Features

Now that was an entertaining half - welcome back to EFL football.

Sheffield United's Billy Sharp was very much the man of the half - scored twice, but Matt Palmer's goal for Burton in between was quite something.

Blades fans will be concerned about Paul Coutts however, who was stretchered off just before half-time after a serious-looking injury.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

We may have started five minutes later at Deepdale, but we've had less action and the whistle for half-time goes in the north west.

    It's been a gritty first 45 minutes.

Preston are looking to end a four-game winless run while Phil Parkinson's Bolton are aiming to extend their five-match unbeaten run.

There's little to separate the two sides.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2017

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

Former Preston midfielder Paul Coutts comes off on a stretcher and is replaced by John Lundstram for the visitors.

It looked a bad one, but we wish the Blades man well.

    Preston 0-0 Bolton

Stephy Mavididi runs at the Bolton defence and sends a low shot across goal, which Wanderers keeper Ben Alnwick has to be smart to get down to his left and grasp.

The striker was slightly off balance when he hit that one, which took the power out of it somewhat.

    Burton 1-2 Sheff Utd

Paul Coutts is the latest Sheffield United player to go down injured, and it doesn't look good for the midfielder.

He throws himself towards the ball just inside the Burton box as he looks to extend the Blades' lead, but is met by a strong challenge and has stayed down.

Four minutes have been added on, and it could be longer before we hear the half-time whistle...
