I'm not overly enamored with the way Arsenal have played this game so far - against Crystal Palace they were fantastic - but they've had a really slow start to this game.

Shkodran Mustafi brings down Hal Robson-Kanu just outside the corner of the box. It's in a dangerous position, but Chris Brunt strikes the free-kick with his left foot well over the crossbar.

Peter: Re Simon 16:48 - Rightly or wrongly, the main creditee is Arsene Wenger. Jack Wilshere hasn't developed into the player he should be, and so is only good enough for Arsenal.

Matt Phillips has the beating of Sead Kolasinac at the moment, he'll be encouraged by how easily he's gone past him on a couple of occasions. Phillips just hasn't quite got that final ball right yet, his radar's been a bit off.

Arsenal's bright start has faded a little and West Brom are starting to get a bit of momentum. Matt Phillips teases a cross into the box and the hosts force a corner. Chris Brunt's delivery is dangerous, but Petr Cech paws the ball away.

West Brom are getting in behind that Arsenal defence, they've done it a few times already. When you're playing that back three it is easier to get in behind, because of those gaps between the centre-backs and the wing-backs - it definitely looks like West Brom have a game plan to exploit that.

It took 10 minutes but despite being shielded from the pouring rain by the overhang of the stand, Arsene Wenger has decided to put on his grey duvet of a coat. He hasn’t attempted to tussle with the zip - his attention probably focused on West Brom’s bright start and the sharpness of Mattie Phillips down the Baggies right.

Alexis Sanchez plays a smart ball into Alex Iwobi who creates a shooting chance on the edge of the box. The youngster curls his shot just over the crossbar. He should do better there.

It looks like James Rodriguez is up top on his own, then Hal Robson-Kanu has slotted into the no. 10 role. It'll be interesting to see how they get on, I'm not sure West Brom have played with these two in these positions before.

Given West Brom's profligacy, set-pieces might be their best bet for a goal here. A corner is sent into the box and Crag Dawson - who scored twice against Arsenal last season - climbs highest but is not able to generate enough power with his header and the visitors boot it away.

We've just seen Arsenal in a nutshell - they make a mistake at the back, but get away with it - and then they go down the other game with a lovely attack, and they're unlucky not to score. That's Arsenal in a nutshell!

Arsenal go close at the other end when Alexandre Lacazette's deflected shot flashes just wise.

Meanwhile, Petr Cech appears to be struggling with a problem with his hand following that ball he fumbled earlier in the game.

A nice move from West Brom. The fleet-footed Matt Philips scampers down the right flank and crosses to the back post for Jay Rodriguez who sees his header saved by Petr Cech.

The Arsenal goalkeeper is called into action moments later when he mishandles a high ball but the Gunners clear the danger.

Rarely can a player’s warm-up been so scrutinised. Body language experts may not have reached a definitive conclusion about Alexis Sanchez’s popularity among his teammates. He seemed happy enough trying to convert a series of crosses from Hector Bellerin. But there wasn’t a great deal of banter either.If Sanchez does score today, we’ll be studying the celebrations in detail.
